Sounds like Zeta shouldn't have invaded Ulithi if you ask me [:D]
Throwing in the kitchen sink to suppress a chain of well fortified islands isn't recommended unless certain key pre-requisites can be met first.
Andy aborted just such an attempted landing against the Marianas and has been slugging it against isolated islands ever since.

Even an attempt at a small island chain (Bonins) stalled Andy - mostly because he didn't use LBA from Wake
and Marcus to suppress Bonin and Iwo Jima first.

To successfully occupy the Palaus in WitP you have to:

1. Occupy Truk and Central/Northern New Guinea and establish bases for your LBA.
2. Pound the Palaus into rubble.
3. Land heavy contingents of LCUs covered by a US Super Carrier Navy with Hellcats and Corsairs supported by
heavy surface combat groups.

Even 10/44 may be too early if you haven't fulfilled the pre-requisites.
It's much like a receipt for making a cake, you have to know how to do it to succeed [;)]

Still haven't heard about anyone invading the Home Islands in a pbem game, so I'm not sure whether this is possible or not.
As this wasn't attempted in RL it's impossible to get many pointers, but it would have been bloody.
The US estimated 1 million casualties.

Zeta invaded HI in the "hirohito style" AAR.

Unfortunately this was one of those days the attack ac couldn't hit defenseless cargo ships... [:(]
Sometimes you can see that very few hits will be achieved as all attacking units finish their attack
runs in fractions of a second. Only 5 ships were hit.

The enemy cargo ships were most likely empty ones returning from Bangkok. The enemy LRCAP was rather
nasty to our escorts, but the bombers got through.

They could really benefit from drastically reducing the ways and means with which pilots accrue experience. I must have been a perfect fornicator by the time I was out of university, or at least a 98![8|][:)] I must be a long serving 99 alcoholic! A 99 bitch and complainer. Trust me Ron, this is the only Recon unit I have that is this good.
It has been in China and thus been able to live a long life. Not even 65 replacement Dinah IIIs pr months is enough to replace
the losses from Allied ac intercepting them at full speed while flying at 34k feet.

In general pilot exp should increase more slowly, but with the current A2A model it doesn't really matter much.
Both have to be adjusted to make sense.

The Far East

The rather confusing situation in the Far East.
All of Andy's efforts are directed towards this area for now.

We're soon into March 1945, only 12 months to go. How far can Andy get - and will hi be able to nuke
the Home Islands? Currently I can't see that his B-29s can reach them. Only normal range will do, right!?

Slow going lately, preparing for my 16 day Easter vacation [8D]
The never ending Allied air attacks isn't good for game turnaround either.

Trying to put together a fighter reserve based on the Tony-100. In a few months
we should be able to field 300 high exp ac and pilots. Will try to use them in a
an all out effort to maximize effect. Should be good mixed with Oscars, Georges and
Jacks.

now that is another question entirely [;)]

italian - NEVER .. too much obsolete rubbish both in the air and
on the land ( bolted together tanks do not make a lot of sense)

German - maybe .. some rather nice kit [;)]

I'm back, but my suitcase is still not unpacked...hope to get to the next turn on Wednesday, busy tomorrow!

Attaching a picture from our visit to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Kiev, my gf commented that I got pictures
of ALL the tanks there [:D] Now she knows why we arrange boys trips.

I really had to smile when I saw my face on this one [;)]
They had a really kewl Hind that served in Afghanistan.
