Detected, and with the advantage of surprise no longer on his side, Spruance takes his carriers back to Palmyra. The troops at Canton Island were very much encouraged by the sight of the mighty ships. No longer would Tokyo Rose be able to say 'Where, Oh Where is the US Navy?"
The North of Oz is still a problem, as the Menado Garrison was pushed off the road by the Japanese. The road to Cloncurry is open.

Actually, the Japanese offensive in Oz is not such s dumb move. The allies cannot ignore this deep thrust into Oz. In fact Oz public opinion demanded the withdrawal of 2 AIF divisions, only one of which has arrived up to now. This hamstrings British operations in Burma.
Also, up to now, 2 US divisions are stationed in Oz, which hinders allied offensive plans in the South Pacific[8|]

Important question: Can the US infantry division, and the base force, hold Alice springs, while all these withdrawing forces recover?
A second US division has been sent towards Alice Springs, but it may take a while for this one to get there

RE: Enemy carriers at Baker?

Post by kaleun »

Enemy carrier planes are spotted at Baker island airfield. In particular the Kates had not been seen there before.
Are enemy carriers operating in or around Baker Is? The world wonders.
Meanwhile Japanese advance towards Alice Springs is uncontained. The 43rd US infantry Division is digging in at Alice springs
In the SW the allies, fresh from their victory get confused and get off the railroad.
They probably remember the battle at Teutoburg Forest and do not want to expose their flanks[8|]

RE: Enemy carriers at Baker?

Post by kaleun »

Editor's note: The reporting of this game runs about 45 to 60days behind actual events, to avoid giving sensitive information.
Here is the intel data
As we can see, there is a definite danger of Japanese auto victory, since they lead by about 3x on VPs.
The allies must start gaining terrain (and sink some ships) to catch up!
