I have all the original CC But?

Post by Rocko911 »

If I buy this game is it ready to rock with win xp? I noticed the other day after I loaded CC invasion normandy on my Win XP Athlon x2 for kicks and grins that it acts very very slow like something is wrong. I mean heck I have an Nvidia 7600 GT with 256mb ram so that should not be an issue. I guess I am wondering is this just a quirk that can be fixed . Also is this new CC made to work better with XP and is it worth buying if I have all the others?

Try disabling directdraw. Use the CC Starter utility (available at the CSO site).

Yup...I posted the CC Starter link for LRRP who's having problems loading CC5 on WinXp and Athlon X2 machine (post #1). BTW, the software doesn't fix the fast scrolling problem...you need to experiment with a CPU slowdown program...but if you have a high-end gaming video card...then the game will still scroll quite fast.
And yes...CoI works well with new OS and Proccessors without the need for tweak software like CC Starter.

Just run the .EXE in compatability mode and it runs fine.  I had the same problem with CC2, CC4, and CC5 myself.

Also did the trick for me...as for the scrolling issue, I get around that by pressing the control button while I scroll around...it does slow it down or I just bounce around using the mini map. I would gladly buy a re-relase of 2, 4 & 5 just for a scrolling fix that doesn't require any of that.
