A request for modders to improve the AI game

Post by Buck Beach »

OK, OK, OK, I know there is no such thing as AI, so let's just call it computer opponent (set well with you Sid). Can you guys collectively or separately help us poor slobs who are unable to play PBEM enjoy this game more. Collectively there are some smart, if you will excuse the expression (I'm an ex-sailor), SOBs that contribute to this game. I know you all are hampered by the hard code, however, you all have shown you can climb mountains in your modifying of this game.

I am sure I am not the only one that plopped down our $80 to $100 dollars for this master piece. It is a great game and has provided many, many hour of fun, BUT, we would like to enjoy the content of your mods.

Please try.

When PC's 1st became popular designers made decent simulations of the original wargame:chess.
The AI was programmed to be responsive to thousands of possible moves,(each of those moves pre-programmed).
If a game as grand and complex could be pre-programmed to be "responsive", and not just pre-planned movement, any game this large would have an improved "AI".

IMHO, a good AI should be programmed to:

1.Capture important locations
2.Re-supply those locations
3.Agressively counter unfriendly transgressors
4.Secure and fortify own possesions.

If the premise of the programming of those early chess games are kept in mind, (responsive movement), I feel part of the solution to an enhanced AI is at hand..

Bob's response is not germane to Buck's request - except that it is the way to get there. But it is something that requires code - not modding.

Actually, RHSEOS is the first RHS scenario designed to be AI controlled - and that only as Japan. It has a number of things that help AI "do better". But it is unable to correct many issues which are structural. As time passes, EOS will continue to evolve in this direction. The very concept of EOS is a big step toward helping AI - giving it more to lose makes it "stronger" as it were.
