To all who combat...

Welcome to the new war raging across hundreds of light years at once, with mechanized Titans as the main fighting force.

To all who combat...

Post by Karacan »

So, now that my computer is set up again, and once I get my Opera-ICQ-client up and running again, I am open for challenges.

A few questions, though: What teams do you use? Beginnerteams? Your own teams? Tournament quick designed ones?

Any typical rules of behaviour? Like, it's not nice to attempt to kill a jock when the Titan is disabled already? I usually do, for fun and since three kills in one battle seem to grant instant promotion. :) I once had a Veteran with 10000 xps. :)

If you use your own teams, what level are they? Is this set before, or do you just fight whats coming?

I am sure someone can answer those questions to me.

The Karacan

I will reveal my ICQ-number once I got everything running again. :)

You can use whatever rules that you and your opponents agree too. 2 and 4-way duels seem popular.

Tournament teams last I checked were:

Money $1,000,000

Skills; not higher than 60% (someone correct me if this is incorrect).

All jocks play.

I also think the number of titans allowed was 4 but that might be the Ultimate Tournament rules.

Most online games use random teams. These are the easiest to set up. If you are hosting and are going to set up some random teams, your Personal Titan designs should be set to private unless they have truly proven effective.

But like I wrote earlier. Whatever, you and your opponent agrees to is absolutely fine.

Most netplay is done as duels or tiny teams because larger games require a major time commitment. I try and make myself available to anyone who wants to play and am always happy to play teaching games as the AI does not well prepare someone for playing against human beings :)
Our custom is not to eject but to leave it up to your opponent as to how badly he wants to destroy you.
Games with experience built teams are fairly rare because it's hard to achieve balance but I personally really like them because it raises the stakes nicely.
Mostly team tournament games are done by setting a given amount of money for teams and experience for pilots and allowing you to craft a team as you wish. For example I might prefer to swarm your 2 Assaults with 7or 8 recons and lights built for the same amount of money.
I can be reached on ICQ with the nickname of Hetzer.
All that I ask is that you take pity on a poor doddering harmless old man and not beat on me too severely :)

I'm not so sure about the poor and doddering. However, when he says he's harmless, I think he fibs just a bit. let me just say that Hetzer is the fly in my ointment. Destroy his Titans without guilt. After all what is guilt when balanced against victory? Its nothing. Heck, Its less than nothing.

I'm at gmt+1 (live nearly on the Greenwich meridian, but it's summer time now). If you fancy a lot of games, and are at a suitable time zone, I enjoy playing a series, starting from an absolute novice 3-4 jock team, developing the team as experience, money and deaths accumulate.

A series sounds fun. :)

I am still waiting for Hetzer to reply to my setup... this weekend looks good, anyway.

*working on ICQ* ;)

That's good. I'm free at any time for at least the next few weeks. It's just a matter of synchronising. Good luck with the ICQ setup.

Oh well, too much spam on the old one. Since Opera's ICQ-client doesn't work anymore with the new servers, I had to get a new one. Hopefully Miranda will do what it promises to. :)
