well it was a suicide mission forthe surface force, as planned

i knew hed come at Spruance with a vengeance, so i offfered a sacrificial lamb, that while not as tasty, was devoured all the same, and the fish and bombs that hit the brave destroyers and the Minneapolis did not instend find their marks in the hulls of Yorktown and Lexington, and the vast majority of their pilots are safe to fight again

Yorktown and Lexington are safe and the First Battle of The Coral Sea is a resounding victory for the US, and Allied Navys as well as the forces of Australia, which helped to make this victory possible

in other news the Saratoga, under Admiral Fitch, has sailed from Pearl to RV with Halsey and the Wake force

recon has spotted numerous ships in the viciinity of wake, including what appears to be an Escort Carrier, which is why ive ordered Sara to sortie immeadiately

i doubt its the KB, but its possible

if it is then the orders will be to avoid the engagement

thought the odds would be the same as midway roughly, perhaps 4 IJN to 3 USN, 2 if Sara doesnt RV in time, i fear the outcome would be different than history's

well in an amazing reversal early last night with the last turn of the day, Enterprise and Hornet ran into the KB, with the results i predicted

originally i suspected that it was a couple carriers, but that it might be the KB or a part of it, the answer came shortly after

Enterprise sank during the night, Hornet will possibly make it to Pearl with some luck, and Saratoga is undamaged


so currently ive got 3 carriers fully operational

I lost 58 planes. Some TB's and DB's destroyed in the air, the rest were damaged and op losses as they headed back to the carriers, i really only had about 25 or 30 shot down, only a few fighters really. Soryu was lightly damaged.

Mrky's airgroups were virtually all shot down from the air and destroyed (about 75%, i know AT LEAST 60% totally destroyed), his airgroups took a MUCH bigger mauling than mine and most importantly my fighter arm is intact. I'm not sure if Hornet was badly damaged but it was reported as heavy damage and she did take a number of hits....Enterprise was sunk, Pennsylvania was sunk and I believe 2 other cruisers were almost sunk as they took heavy damage. For reasons I wont go into i decided not to pursue him, it was a gamble anyways (assuming i could even catch him)

Mrky is being rather over-simplified and biased with these last couple statements. It was a great trade for me that i wouldnt take back and i didn't lose very many pilots or anything for that matter, a little damage to repair on Soryu. He makes no mention of the real extent of the damage done on his forces, most importantly the massive amount of planes and pilots destroyed and me coming out intact...he got surprised (especially when he thought he surprised me and then met 87 zeros over my carriers)
