How many are playing this game?

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Has anyone asked how sales is going for BF?  I'm curious if they've made their goals in sales.  I think I've seen this question before on other games not getting answerd ... but here goes anyway:
can anyone say how many have been sold?

I got mine in the mail yesterday.  Yeeehaa!!

Today will be load up day ... dang job is getting in the way of wargaming or I would have loaded it already

I don't understand the complain about the number of scenarios.

There should be a number of scenarios out pretty soon. Comments below cover scenarios I have actually seen. There's a number more where the designers seem to be making steady progress.

I expect to have three Islands Campaign scenarios with AI out in the next few weeks. Also planning to do a couple of smaller Crusader scenarios with AI.

An awesome Crimea scenario (Kerch Pennisula battle) looks to be nearing completion. Really, really like what RNiles is doing with this one!

I've seen a Bastogne scenario and a Kasserine Pass scenario that look to be at least 50% done. Both of these will be real gems when completed.

So, IMHO, the number of scenarios is a temporary concern. Anyone who gets the game now should expect to have a much larger selection of scenarios by the time they have played out the first four.

Still playing, although BF has been put aside for SH4 since that was released.

I agree with both views really. The game is certainly worth buying for only the four scenarios; it's a really fun system (and there really aren't many turn-based hex games that can say that) and the box scenarios have plenty of replayability. On the other side, I think maybe it should have been released with another couple of scenarios. It certainly should have shipped with the same style of tutorial that KP and BiN (and BiI?, don't have that) had.

I agree with the tutorial, feels to me like they just dont have the time to support BF as they are working on other projects. I mean it was even in the manual.

The great thing about all of SSG's battles so far are their replayability. So 4 scenarios seems fine to me. I played through BIN's overlord scenario so many times (and still do!) that i got my moneys worth out of the 1 large scenario and i dont remember anyone complaining back then about it. The problem is if you compare it to TOAWIII or SP etc where by you have litrally hundreds of scenarios that are not as detailed nor as fun IMO as SSG's. I personally just cant even look at my screen when TOAWIII is on it it looks so dated and dull. Just my opinion of course.

You're right; I hadn't noticed that. It's even in the menu screenshot, although it doesn't look 'active'.

I'm playing too.  Right now only against the AI but pbem is in my future.

But, gosh the BF forum is dead here and just as dead at Run5.  What's the deal?  Is everyone so busy playing they can't post or is there not many copies sold yet?

My personal opinion is that the game hasn't sold well. I keep waiting for all of these "User" scenario's that were being worked on!!!

I do like the game system, but I think that the victory points per scenario are not right...

The lack of postings is a little worrying. Maybe the developers should release some extra scenarios to make it more interesting to potential buyers. Hint Hint.

I know, ive never seen a forum so dead, not have i kept coming back to a forum with no activity so many times!  Its like i dont learn!

I love the game, Ive played hours and hours just to make it halfway thru the Gazala scenario.  I disagree with the developer's that its "an entirely new game".  I mean come on , it is not.  About 75% is straight from the DB series, and the other stuff is just little bitty add ons to that system.  The changes made have been awesome, and really add depth to the game, but they dont make it an entirely new game in my opinion.  Im not bashing here, i love this game, but it is not a brand new game.  Matrix always sells their stuff for $50, so its not surprising to see this one sell for that price, but it shouldnt be that high.

I agree Storm95, it seems quite a few folks opted not to make the purchase based on the 4 scen lineup.  Again, i havent even touched 3 of the 4 scens, so i think passing up the game for that reason alone has been a wrong decision for many.

JSS and Gregor have been awesome, answering my goofy questions very quickly and without frustration.  Thanks guys.

I've no answers to this one either, although personally I think it has something to do with the PBEM patches. Once the first one came out a few people started to look for games, then they realised another patch was required so it all stopped again. I'm personally playing c.3 DB games, waiting until the BF patch comes through (although it may not change much you'd hate to start a game and then realise your opponent has added a patch).

I'd have to agree that the four sce's coming with the game provide plenty of action.  I've only played MG and Gazala and will continue to play only these two for weeks to come.  The other two will be next so I've got lots of play time just with the sce's that shipped.
When Korsun Pocket came out it only had the Cherkassy Pocket sce's (which I think there were 3 related to this battle) and TAO.  BiN wasn't much different so I don't understand why people complain about the number of battles included with the original game.  (if they compare it to toaw, its not a fair comparison ... too many differences to really compare the two ... maybe its timing since toaw III was just released several months ago)

I hope things pick up soon.  Its a great game.  The more I play it, the more I like it.

I have played the DB series a lot over the past 2+ years, logging around 95 ladder games and over 100 non-ladder games. I only play against the AI to get the hang of the game, to develop scenario strategies, basic tactics, etc. PBEM is the most rewarding way to play this game and, for me, the problems with initial release as well as a need for a second patch have kept down my playing time. I have only one PBEM going right now but several to start once we know we won't have to restart afterwards.

Someone mentioned above that maybe there is a lack of interest due to there only being 4 scenarios and I think this is part of the problem as well. Personally, the only stock scenario that I have a strong interest in is Gazala (I would gladly buy the game if it had only this scenario as my personal interest in that stong). I plan on trying the Crusader user-created scenario by Brubaker as soon as the patch is out as I'm very interested in that as well. Over the years I've grown tired of Market Garden games so, unlike many others here, that one doesn't do much for me (this doesn't mean anything of course as I wasn't too interested in the classic Ardennes Offensive scenario for the same reason). Regarding Saipan and Novorissisk, they are ok for learning the game system but did not excite me all that much... again, personal preference/interest.

I know that excellent scenarios will be created by others and I sometimes wish that I had the interest in helping with this, but I don't. I play the SSG games because I enjoy the challenge of PBEM play and the superior (IMO) DB "system" in general.

It's only a matter of time before interest picks up and I have no doubt that this will happen once we have a good patch for PBEM play and a few more scenarios added to the library. Hang in there!

Yeah very dissapointed how quiet its been. I really thought this game would take off. Not saying that it hasnt but with the lack of posts lately it would seem otherwise. I just dont understand why the patch hasnt been released yet. We are a couple of months from release and ive still not played 1 single PBEM. Actually i have started one but we got to turn 2 of MG and it said "Expecting turn 3" and so far ive had no reply as to a fix. Very frustrating indeed.

Come on SSG. Youve been so brilliant in the past, dont let us down now!

I have enjoyed the little I have gotten to play before becoming consumed with beta testing BFTB.
