Detailed OOB's

I'm looking for oob's that detail the makeup of platoon, company and battalion sized units. I want to know what is in a German machine gun company for example. Any info would be appreciated.

If you go to this page you can download the Hand book on German Forces (TM 30-410), May 1945, Chaps I-III that is 20MB in size. You will need Adobe Acrobat reader to view it. In this book it covers all the standed formations for 44 and 45. After looking at this you will see how hard it is to convert formations to SP: WAW and you also got to remember that you could never find a division or even small formations that fit with what was in the book. Most German formations were build on what they could get their hands on.

Just to give you an idea how divisions and stuff were hardly ever standerd.

This is a Artillery Regiment that was part of the 716 infantry division in 1944. Not one German gun in the lot.

1. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers
2. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers
3. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers
4. Batterie 4 French 15,5 cm howitzers

5. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers

7. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers

8. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers
9. Batterie 4 Czechoslovakian 10 cm howitzers
10. Batterie 4 French 15,5 cm howitzers

McGib, you can go to http://www.freeport-tech.com/WWII and find enough OOB/TOE info to satisfy your research needs. You can interpolate the info provided here with the unit data base in SPWAW and come up with some pretty accurate representations of various combat formations. This ties in with my continuing search for the "ideal" composition for Kampfgruppe Erwin in the long campaign. More on that in a different post. Glenn.

Anybody looking for German OOBs and TO&Es might want to take a look at a book called "The Armies of Rommel". He gives very detailed information for all the forces that Rommel commanded. It is available on amazon.com at
