OMA

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

OMA

Post by Snowbart1943 »

Can units move from the map to an OMA? I tried this with an arty unit but it didnt seem to work. Does this relate to the "standard" OMA? Otherwise, what is the 'standard' used for?

Yes, if the OMA is set to receive units.  Unit has to be on an OMA entry hex.

Here's a link to a discussion on how to do the move to OMA.

Thanks JSS.  I had seen that post before.

Is there a way to tell if the OMA is set to receive reenforcements?

I specifically tried this with an Arty unit as the axis in the Gazala scenario and did not see the button in the unit panel.  Perhaps not possible for this scen as axis?  Or maybe it takes a turn or 2 of sitting idle on the entry/exit hex in order to receive that unit option?

Do beat up units heal any quicker/receive replacements, in OMA's?

Thanks much JSS!

Gazala appears to be without the feature (editor settings).  There are five color possiblities with the OMA hexes (six if the two blue hexes are different).

Think the scenario designer has to state which color correspondes to arrivals only, departures only, or anything goes.

So, the direct answer to your question now is Scenario Design notes or a quick look thru the editor settings for a scenario.

Any benefit to having wounded units placed in OMA's?

There is no benefit to placing wounded units in OMAs, since OMAs can represent so many different things. In Saipan an OMA represents a landing craft, whereas in Markey Garden, it's really just a bit of a road network that isn't on the game map.

Your wounded men do best if you take them out of the line and park them somewhere safe and don't move them, that way they can refit.

I've been reading the manual and can't decipher enough info to figure out how "Replacements" and "Alert Status" work in the OMA screen.

I think I've got the "Standard" system figured out.  I'm not sure what the other two button do for me.  (the replacement button looks promising but all the deployment areas are non-operational (the ghostbuster symbol) so I don't know what this screen does for me)

Is there someplace its already been discussed so I can figure this out?

Three sce's played to completion so far against the AI.  1-overwhelming vic ... 1-draw ... 1-overwhelming defeat.  Its really coming together now ... I'm just itching for the pbem patch to come out.  Any ideas when?

Sounds good.

When I get patched up to 1.02 I'll let you know but most likely it will be a couple of days.

by the way, has anyone an answer to my OMA question above?  I can't find anything on what Replacements and Alert Status does for me in the OMA screen.

I have figured out that Replacements are unuits due to enter at later dates.  If you click in the top right corner of the main screen, the same place as the previous games, you can see the Reinforcements due for the next 7 turns in advance.  These are the same reinforcements.

It is possibly an error that the word "Replacements" was used on the OMA screen

The Alert units are those you would receive should the Alert be triggered.

Thanks Joe.

I remember the upper right thingy from BiN (I still play).  I suppose the OMA screen is a better way to display this information but the right click on the turn info area (upper right of screen) sufficed in the past.  I guess I was thinking there was some more functionality or options with the Replacement button in the OMA screen.  ... and ditto for the Alert Units.  Those two Buttons are basically for displaying info in a better fashion - no command functions available I suppose.  (?)

By tomorrow or Friday I should be ready to start (be thinking of which sce and side you want - no matter to me).  Wifey has the 1.02 patch file on her mem stick.  (I can't download from matrix from work ... which at this time is my only web access for downloading stuff - those tricky IT folks have put a stop to lunch time downloads - even though I'd likek to, I won't cuss 'em, I used to be in IT)
