Amphibious landing

Post by Vermillion »

I am playing the USMC against the Japanese.

After quite a few early battles, I was given an amphibious landing map (this is by the Campaign generator)

Every time, the landing is unopposed, there are no Japanese. I just land, take all the objectives and win, without ever seeing an opponent. Easy, but hardly fun. What is going on?

I have seen this happen, but very rarely. Did the blue start line appear on the deployment map? If not, then the campaign has become corrupted. Delete the steel.prf file and the saved campaign, restart the game, reset your preferences, and start the campaign over.

I'm afraid that's all you can do.

Good luck with the Marines. They ARE a lot of fun.

I think what the above poster mentioned is a problem that happens with the corrupted file.
I guess if you go to the next battle and all is well than it is your choice on wether to proceed ahead (just pretend ya scared the bejeezes out of the enemy) or start again.
I personally would start over if it is in fact a file corruption cause it could happen again, but don't go solely on my word, there are plenty of "vet" players here who would know better; I am stil a rookie a the game.
I did however notice; even though it is a royal pain to deploy a amphib landing manually it is well worth doing so becasue in some intances you do not get all the transports you need.

Vermillion: Just out of curiousity, how big a force did you use for your marines ? If you made it TOO LARGE, then the AI couidn't buy any opposing force. Just a Wild A** Guess........
