RE: Beta Demo
Yes, even the release of this game was announced for Christmas (2006), but when I stated that Matrix Games in fact really does not want to release this game I was submerged by invective messages.
Now I could simply say that Christmas 2006 is over and summer 2007is coming.........but the PC version of WiF is not released yet......
Who said the truth ??

<Looking around>
Does this look like a game-project they don't want to release ???
Time-lines are at best optimistic guesses, nothing to hold your breath for.

Maybe you were lambasted because you suggested Matrix didn't want to release this game, rather than saying that it wouldn't be out by Christmas 2006 [&:]ORIGINAL: werwolf

This version has nearly nothing to do with the one discussed in these forums, except that it is about WiF FE too.
RE: Beta Demo
There is no demo available for MWiF as of may 2007.ORIGINAL: I.C.
Hi - I heard there is a demo available but I can't find it anywhere -what are the details?
MWiF is still a closed beta version.
RE: Beta Demo
I downed the computer WIF from ADG. On 1rst sight are the manuals terrible complicated.
I expect that with some experience that will not be a problem.
They are however completely based on the boardgame.
Can NOT find anything how to play it on the computer.
Do I have to find out that myself, or can somebody tell me where to look for instructions how to play it on the PC?

RE: Beta Demo
If you have installed the game then all you need to do is:
Left click on the "File" tab and select "new".
Select a scenario and click OK.
You should be on your way. At this point under "Tools" you should be able to pull up "Rules" and "Charts" (You will need Adobe Acrobat installed to read them but you can download a copy if you don't have it already).
This is all assuming they haven't changed it since the beta.
See my post #1 at at this link for further downloads. Please note that 30. Set up (30setup.zip a Excell spreadsheet) is incompleate.
See my post #16 for the updated version of 30. Set up.

OK. Thank you Mziln.
Game installed and running.
File> New> Barbarossa.
Managed to sort out the giving names procedure and via the bidding procedure to decide who is playing what side.
(default rules set chosen)
Setup also default. Some unclear message about units near the Polish border.
Now Tools>Charts >>>message "Cannot find the charts file "WiFChart.pdf"
Tools>Rules>>> message "Cannot finf the rules file " WiFFE-RAW-7.0.pdf"
Followed your instructions about the link #16 and have now an Excel-file with tabs for the different scenarios.
The .pdf-files I have are CC1final and CC2final. They look as charts for using when you evaluate a dice-roll in lots of situations like combat, wheather, etc.
Am I missing something?

If you turn on the flags you will see which major powers control which hexes. That should help you determine where the Polish/East Prussia border is between Germany and the USSR (they have divided Poland). Setup restricitions are that the USSR has to have at least 10 corps (not divisions) within 2 hexes of Poland/East Prussia and another 10 corps within 2 hexes of Rumania. That requires at least 20 of the USSR corps to start near or in the front line.

RE: Beta Demo
Barbarossa is a good starting scenario to learn the basic mechanics of the game.
There is no tutorial with CWiF (it was still in beta). I would suggest you refer to the RaW (Rules as Written) for each step to see what and how things work. If there is no RaW download a copy from the link I posted above.
I want to give Patrice credit for the copy he gave me to create the updated version of 30. Set up

RE: Beta Demo
Thanks again Mziln.
Being a gamer with lots of experience (played already computergames in the 70ties) one, of course, do NOT read the readme-files. Discovered now that in this case the readme-file me be looked at as a mini-manual.
My real problem is the missing pdf-files when using Tools>Charts and Tools>Rules.
Could you describe what you see when you press Charts? Is it a one page drawing filed with tables headed with a.o.:
US-Entry, IT's War Chart, Wheather chart, Production Multiples, etc.?
Same question for pressing rules. Again maybe a one page drawing with tables o.a. Naval Combat, Air Cobat, Assault Table, etc.
If both situations are the case, then I do have these pdf-files under different names. (CC1final and CC2final). Then it is only a matter of renaming.

I don't have CWiF, but it sounds like your CC1final and CC2final files are both chart files, together showing all of the tables/charts (a total of 2 pages).
For the rules, you can download the latest version (August 2004) from ADG's site:
http://www.a-d-g.com.au/
Select 'Downloads' and 'World in Flames Rules' (Aug 2004) (either as Word doc or zip file).
If you haven't played WiF before it can be quite a mouthful (sp?) at first, but it is definately worth it. It is by far the best strategy game I have ever played (combination of complexity, replay value, strategic and tactical aspects, long term planning, and historical context)

RE: Beta Demo
Tried the renaming for the "charts". Renamed to WiFChart.pdf and have in the same directory as WIF-main.
But alas, NO GO!
If the files are the files that should show up, I still have the option of using my 2nd PC.
If you have a possibility like that it is my experience very handy to use Excel on that 2nd PC to keep track of every data you want to. F.I : Is there a preferred route for sub's or convoys, data on resources, production, etc.
With respect of the rules: I think I have them and it is indeed a mouthfull npilgaard. If you like a game like this you should have a look at War in the Pacific.
At the moment I play War in the Pacific and using the 2nd PC is working extremely fine.

Both are in the main directory as:
The charts are wifchart.pdf
The rules are WiFFE-RAW-7.pdf

Thanks for the tip. Don't have the time for a new game atm, though (especially one of such magnitude - seems to be somewhat larger than WiF), but will make a mental note [:)]
It sounds like an interesting game.

Certainly not you, given that you're not a Matrix employee, and therefore don't know squat about their intentions...
We are all dreams of the Giant Space Butterfly.

Release that game.........if you are able to do so......
Words are only words (as same as your promises) till now we (our potential clients) have seen only words......we would like to see this game instead of empty words and faulty promises (Christmas 2006, now summer 2007, then spring 2011?)............

Actually, I've seen steady progress. What is Steve supposed to do? Magically finish the game tomorrow? Release what he has now, even though it won't be playable? What do you mean by "Release that game..."? The old beta demo can be purchased now.ORIGINAL: werwolf

Everybody would like to see the game released but throwing a tantrum isn't going to get it completed any sooner. Anyone who has read these boards should understand that the work is being done diligently and assiduously. We can't ask for any more.
