IMPORTANT! Me, U.S. Army, where I'm stationed

Post by tizubythefizo »

Hi, I'm in the U.S. army, but I'm stationed in Germany. Technically speaking the ground I'm on is U.S. soil, I've got a U.S. mailing address and everything. However I have a German ISP. Will I still be able to buy and download the game tonight(well in the morning, I'm 6 hours ahead of e.s.t.) without running through N.A. based proxy?

Hooah!! MOS? As far as your question, I really don't see why you wouldn't be able to purchase from Matrix, I'm sure they'll be around to confirm though.

I'm a 13F. FISTer daddy all the way. Although I'm currently stuck working in the TOC at the FSE(for all those army people reading this).

The reason I ask is because I have a german ISP, and out of country ISP's may be blocked from downloading.

P.S.
Erik, i see your online, I'm praying your trying to get that info *crosses fingers* I have an urge to just slaughter some aliens...fingers...twitching....green popup targets at M4 range...not..working..to...quench...thirst.

Wow I need to go to bed

I think the filtering is just done on the credit card address.  Might be wrong.

that would still pose a problem though, as I wouldn't be able to enter my CC info, as I have a stateside bank. The problem is when selecting AE as my state(army europe, which is my address) most systems recognize it as being state-side,which it's not. So the credit card filtering blocks me everytime. I have to usually take a sneaky route to get it to accept my card.

Hi,

We'd love to sell it to you - it will depend on how the store restriction works though. I believe it's based on billing/shipping address so if you are buying it with a US credit card and shipping it to the US, it should be fine.

Regards,

buying it with U.S. credit card, yes. However I have a German ISP, so it would show up as my trying to use a U.S. credit card in germany, some sites don't like that for some reason.

If you have a US credit card you should be fine but you going to need to just simple try it.

well it looks like I won't be able to buy from you, I'm really disappointed. First, my IP is blocked from even entering the buying menu for UFO. So I went through a proxy in the U.S. and I got alll the way to the page where "my banks info screen will apear in a moment" except it never does.(probably because of the proxy)

I'm sucking

it may be possible to circumvent the billing problem by using paypal (which isn't region based and payment itself is not directly handled via the shop, rather paypal tells the shop you paid) and try to disable proxy routing while doing the paypal payment if the proxy doesnt support https connections.

thats just my theory though mind you

one question that would still arise though even if the above method works is whether the shop only blocks you from ORDERING with a non-us-isp, or also requires a us-isp for DOWNLOADING (which would be a serious problem as i dont know any public proxy that gives you enough bandwidth to download 2gig in a reasonable time)

I'm glad to say I'm happily downloading now, no ISP based restrictions on downloading, just the bill part. I posted a new thread (named woohoo) with the details.
