Long Campaign

Post by caribcat »

Does anybody know how to alter the number of Core Force purchase points for the WW2 Long Campaign.

I am trying to play as the British and am getting 3500 inital points, which promises a fairly large force and very long battles.

As I can't afford that much time, (as I want to do a few other things with my life apart from play SPWAW) does anybody have a fix for this?

BTW I am upgraded to 7.1.

I think under preferences you can change the number of points for both sides.
This works for custom battles but im not sure about campaigns.

And what things in you life are more important that playing SpWaW?

Hi there,

The solution is actually simpler than it seems. Just spend as many points as you wish, and the opposing force will be limited to that # of points as well.

I find myself playing fairly small skirmish-sized campaigns to take a handful of squads and a vehicle or two and see how long I can keep them alive! ( I usually bump the AI to make it tougher )

Of course, this likely only applies to the random campaigns like WWII or Long campaign.

I'd hate to take a platoon of scouts alone into one of the pre-made campaigns! :)

points

Post by mogami »

Hi, make sure the pref point setting is xxx otherwise no matter how few points you spend the computer will spend what you have allowed it. This is one of the ways to give the AI a little help
(set the pref for side to 1k and the computer to 3k) but say for example you have just played an online battle where you set it 3k verus 5k. Then you go to start a long camp you have 3k available but only spend 1k thinking the AI will be limited to this. Then you being a brave lad select the hard(x2) battle. Guess what? Your 1k core now is facing 10k computers points (more then it can deploy) I learned this a short while ago when I did not reset the points pref back to xxx for each side. I wanted to do a camp where all the missions would be platoon size engagements but....My core force of 1 infantry plt 1 mg sec and and 2 MK-IV ran into a Polish infantry div (after the 5 minute barrage from hvy arty finished.)

Swedish Translation

Post by mogami »

"ja e gla, drick min chokla å ja smiler hele tidn…"

Hi, I wish I spoke Swedish. Looks like Yes I had a glass of Chocalote and yes I'm happy? (something)

What does it really mean? (If some Swedish speaking person won't mind translating.

My core force killed 89 Polish Infantry and destroyed 3 Polish AFV before retreating to the southern most VH area and hiding while the steam roller head on West. I also had one sniper and I think he bagged at least a dozen guys before he to scramed to safety. I lost 8 men killed (and the battle but oh well)

You're on the right track Mogami. It says "I'm happy, drink my chocolate and I'm smiling all the time" (one option, because of the dialect used it could also be ***I am drinking my***)

This was the translation - BUT I think only Wulfir really knows what it means;)

Thanks for the answers, which came very timeously, as I'd just started a Long Campaign, with 3500 pts, and it looked like the Germans came at me with about 20 tanks and maybe 40 halftracks. Plus I only got through five turns, before I had to go to bed:mad: (although I must admit I did play another computer game, earlier in the evening).

At least my troops are getting plenty of target practice :D , when they are not too busy dying:mad: .

And what's more important than playing SPWAW. Well, I would respond with "playing FIFA2002", which is the game I was earlier playing, as I am an English soccer nut, living in exile!:)

Turn country training off in pref. This will take out the XXX cover> Then set your buy points to what ever you want to spend. Then the ai will buy in reference to your buy points and the mode you will be playing. IE defend they attack there buy points is set a t 3 to 1 or some thing like that.
