Any mention of an SDK?

Any mention of an SDK?

Post by evilferretvictim »

I realize this probably isn't something Matrix knows about, but I had to ask anyways :) For some reason I haven't even been able to register on the *official* boards (been trying for a few months) and even if I did I don't see too many developers answering peoples questions on them.

From everything I'm hearing about UFO:ET so far for those people who either bought it already (or pirated it..heh), this is the game die-hard X-Com fans have been waiting for. However there are a few missing features such as the ability to reserve APs. I don't know enough modding myself to add this feature in, but I'm sure there are at least a few people who would be able to do it. I suppose modding games is possible without an SDK, but it makes it much harder and usually isn't worth the extra effort. So has anybody heard anything about CC releasing one in the near future?

I have not heard that they will be releasing a software development kit. This was speculated in forums, but we never could get a dev to comment. I know that forum members on the CC site are talking about code diving once they get the game, so keep an eye on the forum. I imagine that its much more likely we will see something from the forum community, especially if the game is good, long before we see anything from CC. In addition, there has been much talk about the need for an AP reserver....so it would probably be one of the earliest mods we'd probably see, after money, base and stat edits etc. But I suppose that depends on the code and how moddable it is too.

I haven't heard anything about that, sorry. I would ask someone to post this on the main UFO boards as the developers may have a bit more time to participate after release.
