New Features I Would Like to See
Hi folks,
I would like to put feature requests in a single place. This way, Matrix can co-allate them and provide meaningful feedback to the developers. Please add your voice, and note if you're adding a vote for something. This is based on about 2 hours of play, and I'm sure there are many other things I'd like to see.
1) A 'reserve AP' mode to force soldiers to save snap shot poitns.
2) The ability to change the location of my starting base.
3) The ability to have soldiers at different bases.
4) The ability to change the recruiting rate for soldiers before a game begins.
5) The ability to fire soldiers I don't like.
6) The ability to rename my bases. I used to name my X-Com bases 'Ripley AFB', 'Hicks AFB', 'Hudson', 'Bishop', 'Drake', 'Vasquez' etc... :=)
7) The ability to right click on an alien to go into 'shoot' mode. It takes too many clicks to shoot.
8) Severely incapacited soldiers can die.
Any who came up with the retarded names for weapons and armor, anyway? "Desert Rat' armor? WTF? How about, "Light Combat Armor, Mk I" or something like that. Anyway -- that doesn't effect game play, just a minor b***h.

So you can't rename bases?...that seems weird if they bothered to let you rename soldiers.
I don't have the game yet but of what you have mentioned I'll add my votes for:

For 8 to change they would have to change the whole system to much, which might be hard but I bet it wouldn't be to hard to adjust it so that soldiers could die from wounds at the hospital. Then just tweak the number of recruits that come in per month or so.

1. Have soldiers be able to panic, drop weapons and run whne under heavy fire like X-Com...
2. Have damage to UFO'S and Aliens on ships that are shot down. It makes no sense that they all land intact and no one hurt.

Crap yeah on both of those! It totally forgot about them. There's a bravery stat, so I expected morale would be in, but maybe not. I'd love it when my guys would panic and run in X-Com.

Two more things that feeling missing:
1) It would be nice to be able to shoot over kneeling friends. Everytime I try it, I shoot them in the back, even when one guy is right behind another.
2) Swapping stuff around in the inventory costs no AP. Seems odd.

Regarding the Renaming of bases: a Russian Guildie of mine said that he could rename his bases. When you build a new base (by first clicking something called "build new base" and then clicking the country), you can change the name. Just click on the name. 
If he's wrong though, let me know and I'll arrange for a spectacular demise by a few screaming Orcs. [:D]

I'll try again, but I was not able to rename my main base when it was created.

you can name the bases, you can not name the Nations they are in, so the map and the nation will stay with the same name, but you can have a base in that nation with your name on it

Two-click movement confirmation, with the first click displaying the path that will be taken. I don't know HOW many times I've either A) tried to click on another soldier, only to have the game take my misplaced single-click as a move order to the current soldier, or B) had a soldier walk somewhere silly, because I don't get a preview of where he's going to go.
The other niggling issue I haven't seen pointed out is tank accuracy. Tanks can't crouch, which means they can't get even close to the accuracy of a decent veteran soldier, which makes them next to useless. If I can have four rifle-grade weapons with 90%+ snap shot accuracy at long range, why would I want to bring one tank with 80%+ aimed shot accuracy at the same range? If the current accuracy stays, fine, give them more powerful weaponry. Otherwise, at least let them match trooper accuracy?

IF they matched trooper accuracy, they'd be *too* powerful, since you get them right away and don't have to train them..

Yeah, but lemme detail my dilema. All my veterans are somewhere around a hundred AP, so even advanced tanks are barely faster. They're more accurate, have similar weaponry, and particle-beam weaponry tends to one-shot anything it hits, Anaconda tanks included. So...?

Same thing happened in X-Com. I suppose the more advanced tanks could use a bump- by the time you get them, you should have some veterans.

I'd be more inclined to reduce the AP increase of the soldiers. I mean, improvement is good but they really shouldn't be outrunning tanks.

Yeah, once a particular stat gets to a certain number, it should take more points to raise it than it does at lower levels. Putting one point in AP at 50 should raise it to 55-56. Putting the same point in when AP is already 70 should only raise it to 71-72.

Level-up stuff appears to be in scripts/rpgvalues.config. Unfortunately all the comments in this file appear to be in Czech, unlike the English of the other files..

Ok, it looks like most of this is actually doable by the end-users.
Some of it, like soldier death, is going to take some rebalancing. The only things I'm not sure can be done are moving the starting base and shooting over prone people/through windows.

I would like to see weapons weights included in the characteristics. Dont remember seeing that and it has caused no end of consternation.
