Unit attributes-suggestions?

Post by ChuckK »

Hi all,

I'm really starting to appreciate the freedom we have to craft our own unit types through the various unit attributes. I'm ooking for suggestions on everyone's favortie combos.

Given if I have the money and resources should I aim to give most of my brigades some type of attribute--especially making sure a container group has a balance of artillery, cavalry, and engineers abilities?

Do unit attributes make a significant difference in quick and instant combat resolution?

I went back a page or two but didn't see any threads on this topic, apologies if I missed one.

Yes, attributes and abilities definitely are factored into the calculations for quick combat and instant resolve. And be aware that the AI loves to buy brigade attributes, so if you don't you'll end up at a significant disadvantage in that area.

To ask a further question about quick combat and instant combat - what areas of tech research, general's abilities, etc... do not effect instant combat?

Since I never play detailed combat, I'd like to know which upgrades or abilities I can ignore while upgrading my force, or which generals will be best for certain roles. For example, does initiative effect instant combat, or is that only impact detailed combat?

I believe that pretty much all of them have an impact, but this is a subject for Eric to discuss. I'm way out of my depth here...

Eric, any ideas you can share with us on this?

In Quick Combat in the beta version you should be able to right-click on a unit causing a popup window to open that display its attributes and their combat effects.
