I bought and liked DG. Yeah, it took about 2-3 weeks from the release and quite a few patches for it to become playable. What game doesn't need a patch or two these days? I guess EA, Ubisoft and other huge corporations and the likes can release games in "nopatchneeded" condition, but that's about it.

Oh and yea, i'm a big fan of paradox games and WitP as well. All patched to hell and back. So I guess I don't have such a tender soul as some of us have..

That's garbage. They're more guilty of releasing games that desperately need patching than anybody.

Well there you have it then. Who DOES release games that are in no need of patching? Can anyone point me to a company that consistently does it?

This may come as a shocker, but MMG doesn't send games to publishers with KNOWN bugs.

At least that was the case during my two years of testing for the outfit.

A lot of what went into patches for the game(s) were actually improvements and new features that were added to the original package.

Stuff does crop up occasionally, though, after a game is shipped.

When it does, everyone associated with the team is genuinely horrified that something slipped past the testers.

They take a lot of pride in their work and have very high QA expectations.

Oh, I guess all the other developers throw a party and madly cackle at bug report emails when they recieve any after release?

Actually, some developers/publishers don't bother to playtest the games before they ship them.

Can you name some and point to some kind of evidence?

Sure I can, but the game(s) that come to mind aren't included in the Reader's Choice Awards, and so the comments would be off topic.

I replied to a question that you asked above with an example of a developer which a lot of folks believe gets it "right."

The company in question, MadMinute Games, was cited by the larger wargaming community for creating the "Game of the Year," and tied for "Best Developer."

I'll leave it at that.

Yeah I have to agree with that also MMG's games don't come anywhere close to the crap that other publishers and developers put out that require a long legacy of patching later on after the game is released. I applaud MMG's for their wins and awards. Too bad they just can't seem to find a publisher who does what they claim they will do as far as advertising and hype goes. I think Paradox just did them dirty with the 2nd Manassas release. But, then again I think Paradox "suks" (I don't like their games or engine and would only recommend one game to anyone and that would be CK) for the most part anyways. ;) I mean seriously I have to ask people how many lemons do you have to buy in a row before you realize you are never going to get an orange out of that barrel for months to years after the barrel has been opened?

Maybe some people are looking for lemons and not looking for oranges

That's why I buy Paradox games...because I like their strategy games. I had EUII and HoI2 and currently have EUIII and HoI:DD. The games are excellent.

In fact, related to this (Paradox issue you have) have you not recently purchased EUIII? I'm sure I saw a post where you stated you picked it up off Amazon for $14.99? hm?

Yeah I said a long time ago Judge if you read my posts that I would never buy one of their games "retail upon release" again. But, siad I would buy them from bargain bins. I also stated it was Paradox that this crusade was against not reallly the games. The games are merely ok after they "finally" are patched, except for CK which was truely exceptional and I found it for less than $10 with a copy of HOI attached to it. Some duel pak jewel case sale. And yup I got EU III recently, got it and haven't even looked at it. It sits over there in the might play at a later date pile of games. I have Starcraft also still in shrink wrapped box and I still have no desire to play it either. Oh look there's HTTR over there also, but, I did play it for one day. lol I might visit it again someday when there is just totally nothing else I want to play. ;)
