Recovered ship components are for...?

IIRC, in the X-Com series recovered ship components--drive systems, armor, etc.--were important in the manufacture of advanced human vehicles and armor. Will they be necessary here, too? I haven't encountered a need for them yet. If they're just another source of income, I oughta dump 'em on the market to relieve my cash situation.

I am not that far into my game, but from near as I can tell from reading the Dev boards, it appears that you are safe to sell off any alien swag that comes your way.

Stock pile them and then sell them once researched. You will get far more money for the items once their origin/type becomes known to your research scientists.

Aye, if things are going badly for the defenders, you can usually defend your home base if it is attacked on the ground (if it is your only base and the aliens have most of the planet... ). However, say someone is in that situation, and their monthly income is horrible. Well, they (hopefully) will be able to win a few missions of their own, and that gives money when you sell this stuff (alien artefacts). Also, if you eliminate an enemy base (not one of yours captured), you get cash. So far I always get $400k.

By the way, ship components are worth about 2.5 times more cash AFTER you research the component. One strategy is to save them until you research it, and then unload for millions in cash. [:)][8D][;)]
