Unintended Emancipation

Post by Johnus »

Playing southern steel as Union. Upon resolution of first turn North emancipated. I didn't intend to. Can this happen without my imput ??

(Just realized I could have titled this thread: "Premature Emancipation." Sorry, but I'm on a roll today.)

[:D], BTW, you can edit the title, too, not just the text.

No, it shouldn't happen.  Are you sure you didn't inadvertently click on the Emancipate button?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought there were now limits on when Emancipation can take place. Is it possible this can be achieved on turn 1 of Southern Steel?

So Eric's question about inadvertantly hitting the button isn't accurate? In other words, you shouldn't even be able to inadvertantly hit it...

I can't deny that I may have inadvertantly hit the emancipate button. But trust me, emancipation did occur on the first turn of Southern Steel (Sargeant Major level.) I didn't notice anything during the turn, but the event report after the turn was clear.
Emancipation had taken place, along with the changes to European attitudes and the additional Southern reinforcements.

It sounds like a bug, but it's not one we've ever seen happen in many, many games. I'd love to see a starting save that can duplicate this, I'm not sure how we'd hunt it down otherwise. Do you recall the exact combination of options you chose?

Erik:

If you tell me how to do it (I have no idea) I'll send you the saved game if that helps.

I'm aware that one ought not be able to emancipate on the first turn of the game, but if something isn't working with emancipation then it's also quite likely that something isn't working with the check that prohibits emancipation on the first turn.
