Base Advice

Post by pitttbulll »

Just wondering if anyone who is near finishing or finished the game could give a little base expansion advice.
I'm playing on normal difficulty, and are in the second month with two bases, one of which is the starting base.
How fast should I build bases?
I want to be able to keep up with the increasing ufo activity, but I don't want to overexpand myself into bankruptcy either.
I've read a couple of posts recommending the one base a month strategy.
Any input from my fellow gamers would be appreciated.
Thanks again.

Depence on ur economy. A year into my game i have 8 bases. most being made in first 8 months.
I think u give the best advice ur self. Dont overextend ur economy, build as u can. yes it seems base if keept, helps keeping up the monthly payments from states.
Later in game it seems that the best source of revenue is alien stuff sold but i dont want to spoil to much.

Kind reagrds,

I think the whole trick will come down to build what you can afford, but also build what you can defend, until it can defend itself

remembering that a base with one hanger, is with in reason, worthless other then knocked down scouts, so you are going to want to have at least 2 or 3 hangers per base

once the bigger ships start to show up, some close bases that can be set up for cross ambushes can come in handy

In my current normal game, I built one per month until I had like 5, then I saved and built one base and added more fighters. Early on I did not have fighters everywhere, since they cost.

Now I have all 8 bases, and one has 4 hangars, all the others have 2. Two such smaller bases are currently without fighters since I do not need the fighters at this time. My main base also has 4 hangars. Hope this helped some.

(Every time I added a ninth base, the enemy took it over, so I reccommend only 8 bases. Besides, when the enemy shows up and takes over that last region you can go on a ground base mission.)
