This way most of my planes were destroyed on ground na pilot losses are light. I doubt RAf will return over Delhi any time soon. Two Tony sentais did a great job by downing most of the escorting Warhawks. Tojos disapointed but I have my reasons not to blame the plane...

It seems that occasionally there are small groups or individual ships sailing out of Karachi in an attempt to reach the Pacific. Todays, subs decide to pick on one:

A swadow of their former might, the 5 indian divs, 4 brigades, 4 armor brigades and 4 base forces are the last what remains of the "Burma pocket". Time has comed for its eliminaton now that malaria, dysentery and famine did their part of the bargain:

Tomorrow the main body arrives and the assult is scheduled fr the day after. According to my calculations Lahore isn't defended by a strogn garrison since till today there have been Spits stationed there and they require mechanics. Those don't come with the combat units[;)]
So the first attack should do the job.

A slaughter! It's been a while since a saw something like this. Tojos preformed well todays, as did the Tonys. Some of the planes lost were destroyed on ground. The hell british bombers had to go through is clearly visible by the number that got through to drop thier bombs. The rest were destroyed or turned back. All in all, I lost less then then 5 pilots, and one Tony sentai destroyed around 30 enemy ac without a single loss!
But thsi has been such a day that had I even lost the whole war on it, would still be remembered by WO Fukodome, a 65th sentai pilot. Todays he becomes the leading japanes ase:
WO Fukudome W. of 65th Ftr.Sentai is credited with kill number 17
The first follower has 13 kills, but the that gap is also not that spectacular to deserve such praise. What deserves the praise is the fact that Fukodome scored 11 kills today![X(]

BW, ADI (armor detachmentz India) attacks Lahore tomorrow with the aim of qiucky capturing the town and forcing the defenters to retreat disorderly towards Rawalpindi.

Of all the days, today when the ground assult is planned, the airstrikes are at their weakest. The reason is simple: I'm pushing the bombers too hard and almost 50% were damaged today from previous strikes:

Any chance of some magnifying glasses for the screenshots? I guess you got the settings wrong?

Roger
WO Fukudome W. of 65th Ftr.Sentai is credited with kill number 17
The first follower has 13 kills, but the that gap is also not that spectacular to deserve such praise. What deserves the praise is the fact that Fukodome scored 11 kills today!

An illustration of an aspect of the somewhat unreal air combat model???

Thanks Roger. It's been tiresome to update 2 weeks of turns in one go so I didn't check the end result[:(]

While I agree that air combat model sucks I does so both ways. I also have to note that my aces rarely made consecutive kills is such fashion but I do remember back in the earlier pathces when the "xxx credited with kill n" messages were shown during the replay, that allied pilots in modern fighters regularly got consecutive kills of 5 and more per engagement. This is the first extreme example that went my way (since I only play Japs) and I can't say I'm having second thaughts about it.[:D]

Yes, its sometimes a long process putting an AAR report together....

No way was I having a go at you about the Jap aces... and I agree it cuts both ways. I just took the opportunity to register the daftness of this aspect of the game.

I imagine someone out there could tell us how many rounds a Tony (I think that's what he was piloting) carried and therefore the number of rounds fired per kill..... It must have been guided ammunition!

Well, there are some reports by Japanese for some planes to have shot down multiple B29 in a single mission. don't want to go into the trustworthiness of those claims, jst wanted to mention it.
And I have a feeling that the speed is the factor in AA engagemnets since Tony is significantly faster then Zero and I had no such occurances with them. And it would fit in very nicely in my claim that the allies with their advanced fighter get many "consecutive kill" aces since the planes they are flying often top 400 mph.

Interestingly I have noticed that "Manchukuo" is all but empty.  I would say that at the most there are 3 Jap divisions in the entire area.   That would explain how Hero Honda has managed to have sooooo many troops in China/India/Australia and still have hight numbers of troops in the defensive line around Japan.  Makes Manchukuo a really tempting target.  And now the the Nazis have been caught flat footed in the early Rooshan winter I bet that Ol' Joe is also thinking along the same lines.[;)]

Just a reminder taht teh Rawalpindi trap worked and that in a few days the trap will set for the copu de grace on the brithsh troops trapped in there. This recent operation of Armor Detachment India has proven so successful that the "behind the scenes" details can be divulged. Commanding to operation level officers of the Detachment have secretly undergone training in Germany. They had a chance to witness first hand how to use armor of lesser quality by taking advantage of maneuver and armor concentration. As I said, blitzkrieg has come to the arEast - achung Panzer! In Germany, Japan's victories have been hailed as their own, but during the last few days the media is showing nothing but pure admiration for Imperial Japanese Army and its provess in germany's favourite type of warfare.

SEA OF JAPAN:
Today, there has been a serious incident in the international waters of the Sea of Japan. A flight of Soviet bombers has deliberatly attacked a passing convoy of japanese merchant ships! The only mitigating circumstance is that the bombs missed:

So this is as good a moment as any to settle this USSR question once and for all.

Bellow are the two house rules regarding Soviet Union:
11. Japan activates USSR regardless of wether it will or will not attack (USSR can only attack on or after August 9th 1945); Japan can't use anything from Kwantung without paying PPs and also shouldn't weaken it below the now imagined 9000 AP
12. Allied troops and planes can enter Soviet territory only if political points are paid for their transfer to Far East Command (those units then remain Soviet till the end of the war)

Now, I undersand that Raver is in a picky position but that's not my problem. For months now, there have been occurances of Soviet recons over Manchukuo and a few times even outright attacks. I took no notice of it thinking it'll go away by itself, perhaps a squadron came as reinforcemets and was under airfield attack orders...I didn't want to nag. But by saying that Manchukuo is all but empty, Raver is implying that I'm a cheat since there is a house rule saying I have to keep the garisson in place. Not a nice feeling being called a cheat, even indirectly...I did't mean to sound harsh or anything, just feel defensive about the whole issue and want to clear it up.

Now now Mr Honda......I never intended to imply that you were in anyway cheating........those who know me well will know that if I even thought that you were then I would call it.    I am simply so far behind the eight ball in our game that I am simply looking at every option open to me to try and kick your arse.
So lets ahve a quick group hug...................and get back on with what I intend to do best.............kick your arse!

[:D]

Roger

There were a few instances in the real war where a fighter pilot downed many aircraft on one day.

The biggest score single day score: Emil Lange,18 Aircraft.
Hans-Joachim Marseille should get honorable mention for 17 in one day.
Erich Rudorffer shot down 14 Aircraft in one sortie, in an Me-109.

David McCampbell has the US record of 9 kills and 2 probables in one sortie. He was not scheduled to fly that day, so the armorors were only able to partially fuel and arm his plane. He nursed the fuel to a point that his engine quit immediately after landing. If his Hellcat had been fully armed and fueled, he would have shot down more than that. He had six rounds of ammo left.

Lopsided scores like that usually happened in a defensive situation where the fighter is defending his base and the enemy is of poorer quality. Marseille's skill is notable because he faced a much better opponent than most of the top German aces or McCampbell faced for most of the war.

The "Soviet incident" has been satisfactorily resolved but I won't go into details now. I can only say it includes two lively coloured crows and that's all.

Brisbane is being bombed to smitherine. An inspection of japanes forces conducting the siege has led me to order another attack. Although the last couple of attampts have failed to gain any ground I have to try again.

The strikes aren't too deadly but do disrupt the enemy which was of vital importance for the incoming assult. Finally we gains some ground and forts go down to 7. Losses are great but I can live with that as long as forts keep coming down:

Brisbane is still as strong as ever!    It has taken Honda well over 40,000 casualties to bring the frot level down from a 9 to a 7.  Just keep at it mate......I am enjoying the show.[:D]

I had a cunning plan but Honda has failed to take the bait.   Simply put I had a number of TFs formed at Karachi (one of which has a RN BB) as a honey pot and did have all of my fighters set ready for the expected attack.  Well after some days "Hero Honda's" bombers have proved that they are anything but "Heros".

I would have to be very stupid to attack a BB under a CAP of 100+ figters, mostly Spits...why don't you take the Valiant out for a ride?[;)]
In the game, it's been 12 days since the last report. I've been bussy. Got my diploma finally...[8D]

Things of note in those 12 days are:
1. Brisbane is bombardrd from air, sea and land. The airplane icon is gone from the base and it's possible that supply might be running a little low. But those are asumptions at ther moment and must not count on that happening.
2. The Rawalpindi trap has worked - british inf brigade and a base force are surronded and surrender to my Panzer Armee.
That's about it.
