I want to secure Balikpapan as soon as possible to use it as a staging point for the attack on Java. I have played a PBEM where the allied player (me) managed to turn Java into a veritable fortress by bringing in 18th UK division together with several Australian brigades. In that game the japanese player (2ndACR) failed to get a beachhead on Java because he postponed his invasion to Feb 42. By then I had more than 200 combat factors in all base hexes, as well as over 500 aircraft on the island. That proved to be a too tough nut to crack for the japanese player.

So Im going to avoid that risk by making sure I have boots on the ground in Java before the end of december.

Balikpapan? Talk about unhistorical overextension. I'm sorry but there's no way the japanese could have sailed battleships through the makassar straits undetected.

But, it's your game and if your opponent agrees with it... [:D]

Well, the game is hard enough for the jap player without crippling him the first turn too. Ive seen

The one portstrike-rule is enough in my opinion.

Yes, I should not complain too much about Pearl. Its certainly not a disaster, and I have managed to put most of his BBs out of the war for at least one year, and thats the important part.

It annoys me that Oklahoma sucked up 7 torpedoes while I had no hits on Maryland and one ineffective hit on West Virginia though.

OMG [X(][X(][X(][X(] With that many torps used there´s nothing to complain about.... [X(][X(][X(][X(]

With the right die rolls 5!!!!! of the BBs could sink.... I wonder that you´re not hopping up and down, instead I read words like "disaster"???? [X(][X(]

PH strike results look pretty good to me, too. Is that 38 torpedo hits?! Would be interested to know what steps you took to optimize the strike.
