wall mounted map

Post by AirGriff »

Anybody know where I can find a large wall mountable WitP map or something I can use for planning? I had this fanciful idea of mounting the official Matrix sold WitP map on a metal backing and then making magnetic unit counters so I could get the "big picture" on my games. Just something I'd like to tinker with. The Matrix map is too small, though. Any ideas on where I could find a bigger map?

Some sites (see the "stickied" thread towards the top of the page for exact addresses) such as Spooky's have planning maps you can print out, or maybe have printed out.

i am playing around with printing out relevant sections of the map (using screen capture) and then taping them together for a partial table map (under acrylic)... i need more space, though!!! [:D]

How big are the hexes on the Matrix map?  How big do you need them?  If I remember correctly, the Matrix map is 2 X3 feet.  I imagine that any map with hexes big enough for you to have several counters in each hex would be 3 or 4 times as big.  [:D]

Edit: With that said, I'd love to have one![8D]

The Matrix map, if I'm looking at it right, doesn't show the bases. I'd like a map to be roughly twice the size of the Matrix map. Even then, the counters would have to be pretty small. I suppose I could get a planning map off Spooky's site (thanks rtrapasso), then give it to a print shop. That will probably cost a buck or two. I'll have to give it some more thought. I'd really just use it to tinker with while waiting for a turn to come back.

It might help if you dropped a PM to CobraAus as he is the guru on map issues, IMO.

These are actual size.

Or you can get it from matrix. They have the map with and without hexes:
