not sure if this has been asked before, but what kind of league parameters do you need to have interleague play? Do you just need to have a 162 game schedule or a certain league setup?

I'm thinking that if a historical league is set up to match an imported historical PS or OOTP schedule, then, yes, there will be interleague play. That started when, 1997?

dunno, but what about a fictional league set up to start in 2007? My league is a 4 division, 4 teams per div league w/ 120 game schedule and I just noticed that there's no interleague games. I guess there's no room for the other teams when I play the 7 teams in my league nearly 20 times each

Except for the Marlins association I'm running (which started in 06), all other associations I play are fictional. None of these have interleague play, even though one of them has as many as 28 teams. I do believe it's all in the schedule, not so much anything else. Since fictional associations use a default schedule while MLB associations mirror the real thing, unless you create a custom schedule for your fictional associations, I don't believe you'll have interleague play.
 
However, I'm never created a fictional association with an MLB-style 30 team setup...

You are better off going to OOTP forums and downloading a schedule from their site. Or here is an example of a OOTP schedule of 152 games (20 teams) with interleague play (totally balanced schedule):

There are over 300 schedules at the site. If you find one close you can just subtract games and get a schedule to fit your needs without having to do major work.

Whew! Yes, OOTP schedules CAN be imported into Pure Sim. This is how I got the accurate historical schedules for my 1946-60 association project.

no offence sandman, but i have no clue what that chain of numbers means, i also noticed on the ootp forums differences between 06 and 07 schedules, will both types of scheds work on puresim? is there a post on the forums thats the equivalent of schedule making for dummies, as I couldn't find a schedule to fit my league...

The above format is what you need to edit to bring into puresim.  The schedules you need are in the mods forum in the OOTP6.5 area.  There are over 300 schedules with description in the header.  The numbers simply are the date, away team, home team and time.  You can use a schedule as is and import into puresim or take a schedule open in notepad and edit to your liking and import or you can even open in excel convert to columns change it then export back out as a comma delimited file and import.

I posted the above to give you an example of the format.  No need to rewrite your own schedule when the tools are out there.



Just noticed you have 16 teams and not 20. My mistake I posted an incorrect schedule. There is one there in the forum that would fit your league almost perfectly. It is 16 teams in a 2L-2D-4T configuration with Interleague Play. 54 games in division, 36 outside but in league and 24 interleague. the non division plays either 3h/6a or 6h/3a so you could add 2 series at the end of the season making two of the opponents that are 3h/6a into 6/6. The current schedule starts around April 18 and ends early September, you could add two series and have the season start around the 11th. This would be simple. Or you could reduce your season to 114 to match the season. There are a lot of 16 team schedules in the forum.

I just noticed something interesting in my current fictional league. I was running with 28 teams until just this last post-season and we never had any interleague play. I recently approved expansion and we went to a 30-team, MLB-style, format. Suddenly-- TA DA!!-- interleague play. I didn't change anything and I didn't play with the schedule in any way. I noticed that the first interleague games weren't until June, but other than that, it looks like an ordinary MLB schedule.

When the association started I was playing a full 162-game schedule; I haven't changed that yet.
