I guess I'm really missing something here guys. Shipping costs seem out of line but that's not the fault of Matrix.

I just went to Amazon.com to see what they charge. $12.98 for one item of software is the cheapest shipping you can get to Europe. Want it faster? Pay $33.98 for one item.

Remember that Amazon has a certain economy of scale. They are huge so their actual shipping and handling costs are much lower than what a small company like Matrix incurs.

As far as if you think that $24.99 is a fair price for an MC without a printed manual you have to make up your own mind on that. Just for a point of reference I have paid upwards of $30 for one imported music CD. Which one, game vs music, do you think has brought me the most enjoyment for the bucks?

Get a grip

No, not too many nitwits but a few that ignore that shipping costs are as they are and we can do nothing about it, as they´re made up by the parcel services.
We would love to ship it to you for free actually but FedEx and brothers does not want to play that game.

I've read all the posts on this subject and I have one lousy question. WHAT WOULD THE COST BE IF IT WAS PURCHASED IN EUROPE AND SHIPPED TO THE US ? Compare that and then bi***.
Sorry if I flame a Euro but it works both ways guys. :(

As a long term lurker on these boards , a European and a happy customer of the first mega game I would like to throw my hat into the ring on this one.
I think that Matrix prices are fine as regards the product and I say this as someone who has just gained a daugther and lost an income. But that said I think there is a problem with the shipping charges. I regularly buy from the states and this is one area where companies have a wide variation.
Does it effect what I buy from Matrix, well yes, I brought the first CD as a thank you for all your efforts on the other games even though I was not a fan of SP. (I've since modified my views.) I will buy UV no problem, but where you lose the sales is the casual spur of the moment sales. I'm not a fan of the period but I might have given La Grande Armee a spin or brought another mega had it not been for the (In my view excessive) postage.
Maybe its just me, but I seem to remember someone saying that sales of the 2nd and 3rd mega's were disappointing, It may only be one reason of many but its worth looking at.
I agree with Les the Sarge 9-1' s idea on getting a 'local' to post it on but I don't have anyone who's a possibility at present.
Cheers

Deutsche Post(German Mail) 4,61 EUROS International per Airmail

:D

2,56 EUROS for the Mail and 2,05 Euros if you want to be sure that the mail arrived where it should. So it would be about 4,5 $ss

That would be the shipping costs from Germany to the US.

One thing I have noticed a lot of.

People that have purchased items "to support Matrix".

I DO indeed like Matrix.

But Matrix can rest assured I never bought my Lost Victories, "just to support them". I bought it because I wanted it.

I am obliged to support my wife.
Point here is I am not here to "support" Matrix.

In as much as I call myself a loyal fan of Matrix, they have to earn each and every dollar out of me. I have no intention of giving them any "warm and fuzzy" sales.

If I had no desire to play a Mega Campaign, I would not buy one...period. Same for coffee mugs t shirts and such.

If I had the cash I might buy Watch Tower. Not sure about the Desert one. The setting just doesnt do it for me (played the germans a lot and got used to sitting behind 88's wasting everything in sight), probably burned out my interest in the desert. Watch Tower though is likely a good way of separating the men from the weenies (I think I am possibly still a weenie in the Pacific).

I am waiting patiently to get Combat Leader. I ain't going to buy it just to say "thanks" for Steel Panthers. Matrix produced Steel Panthers WaW on their own initiative. My thanks comes in the form of these words...

THANK YOU

It's all that is expected from any of us.

Getting another person hooked on the game is always a good thing. Certainly doesn't hurt sales. If they go hog wild and buy all sorts of stuff, well I guess I was in some way useful.

If you go to the home page of this web site Matrix has listed their international distributors.

I would hope, as somebody suggested earlier, that a master CD is sent to the distributors who burn CDs for the customers (us) and sends them on.

This would certainly cut shipping costs.

And of course the manual would be included on the CD in PDF format, further cutting costs.

Don't know why people are b*tching about shipping costs. One of the Matrix dealers "Duchet" sells it for about £25. What's the problem??????????? Hell I would pay more than that for some chart game that I can finish and get bored with in a couple of weeks.

Jeez..... apologies to all the spams :D out there for some of my euro colleagues quick tempers.

People always want something for nothing.....

Hi Guys

I am real tired with another 18+ hour day under my belt. I have gone over this 100 times already but I do not want any of our fans / customers to think we do not care. We do and very much.

The cost to make the game is not huge but costs more then a person would think. We have to pay all the guys that worked on the game.... or there will be no more games.

The shipping cost are easy to answer. First we only ship with a tracking number plain and simple. Why? Our credit card company will not even think of protecting us unless we have a tracking number. We got REAL burnt when we did otherwise.

Also there is the cost of the warehouse and cost of our customer service. We offer toll free order service, operator support for tracking lost shippments, a Help Desk service for shipping and Billing issues. Name a wargame company that does any of this for its customers at this scale.

We also provide advance web service.... we have a shippment quoter, My Order Status allowing the customer to lookup and track his order.

The overhead.... this is one no one really ever takes serious. The cost of the office, computer equipment, development software, the internet network, Combat Net, the bandwidth.... oh the bandwidth and the web site are very large.

The volume of wargame sales are low if you want real wargames from us or designers like Gary Grigsby its got to be profitable to all of us.

Let me say that everyday we are looking into new things and we are always trying to bring the cost down.... if you been with us when we start you know how we grown.

So remember the game and shipping costs take a lot into account.
