WW II Strategic

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

WW II Strategic

Post by JJU57 »

I had posted this under the general section, but few people go there I guess. Does anyone know of any good WW II strategic games that might be available. I know of
Third Reich
High Command
Axis & Allies
Clash of Steel
Storm Across Europe
My ideal game would have around 500 units total and represent economic as well as military aspects.

Thanks

World in Flames was also a popular strategic game.

i've heard about world in flames. wasn't that a board-game. is it in computer version now. i would be interested in checking that one out. a couple of strategic games are war in europe and war in the pacific, not sure if these have been converted to the pc like third reich was.

As long as you mean board games and not computer games...Check out SPI's European Theatre of Operations. ( There is a Pacific half also. ) While its only half the war is the best we have found. ( Out of Third reich, Krieg, WiF ) But it probably has more pieces than you would like. It is also difficult to find. Try ebay.

WiF is supposed to be released this fall for PCs. I agree, High Command was an interesting game-could use the "Matrix Treatment". For board games, Wif is one of the best around. Another one I enjoy is Advanced Third Reich. In the "Oh my God" category, attempts are being made to unite the operational-level Europa Series into a strategic-level game "Grand Europa". Personally, I think that's inappropriate, but to each his own....

If you are interested is a very small, simple game, AH's Hitler's War was pretty good, kind of like Third Reich junior. I enjoyed it. It was the kind of game you could play with friends who weren't gaming experts. Don't know if you can still find it, though.

For bit older computer wargames I can recommend the 'House of the Underdogs' at http://www.theunderdogs.org

Plenty of other games too!

A computer game I used to LOVE was Empire Deluxe. I wish someone would update that. It was the bomb!
