How can I extract the pictures from the game?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

How can I extract the pictures from the game?

Post by Manticore »

Hello,

What program do I need to extract the pictures of tanks (the ones in the encyclopedia) and to convert them to a format such as jpeg?

Thanks

SPWAW utilizes an older graphic file (lbm) that you can find on a couple programs. I use PSP6 which can read the lbm files and then convert them to others such as jpg.

Manticore,

I use the Ultima Online Screenshot Utility (UOSU).  It is small and very easy to find and install on your PC.  Just Google "Download Ultima Online Screenshot Utility".  Then download and install.  When you run UOSU, hit the 'Print Screen' key to capture a screenshot.

Once you have a captured screenshot, you need to make sure that it is in jpeg format and less than 200k in size to post on this forum.  I use a program called IrFanView to resize and reformat my images to jpeg less than 200k.  But any image viewer will work.

The direct link to UOSU is here: http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/uosu/indexe.html

For conversion into jpeg, I use a utility called XnView. It can be found here: http://perso.orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enxnview.html

I use Paint Shop Pro 7, which can read and make LBM files (the game's picture files), and convert them to JPEG, BMP, or other formats.
