Is there a surprise attack bonus for the japs? I did not see any mention of that in manual or in the forums

There is a surprise attack bonus whenever a politically frozen region is attacked. If Hawaii is the first region the Japanese attack then it will generally still be frozen, and hence the benefit applies.

Note that after the first attack by Japan, all the regions unfreeze. So the surprise applies to only that first combat.

It works the same for Germany attacking Russia.

ok, I bought this waiting for carriers, and now have two to learn.. manual? got blury after a bit and that part just did not fit.. thanks for the info on partisans too, worked fine! now to try to win as Allies without P!
