Screen Shots and Notes

Now that the AAR contest is under way, I was wondering if there were any easy way to take screen shots and notes from within the game. I'm using Vista (I know [:-]) and when I use the Windows key to switch between FOF and Notepad/Paintshop, I get some strange results with FOF.

What exactly happens in FOF? I have weird Windows things happen when I alt-tab out of FOF to get to Paint, but I never lose the game -- it just sometimes takes some additional alt-tabbing and clicking to get back to the full FOF screen. (One thing I've learned is, don't alt-tab out of FOF when some pop-up like an attachment box is open.)

There are graphics programs that let you take multiple screenshots before you have to paste them, which might solve your problem in part. I don't know what they are, though.

If I am in a detailed battle, the screen will display the strategic map when the AI starts it's turn. I have to use the Windows key to get out, then get back in. That resets the detailed battle view. I've also noticed that if I save a game and press enter after changing the save name, the cursor will disappear. I have to remember to change the file name then click the save button with the mouse to avoid that problem.
I will say once again that while these problems are a little annoying, this game is the best new game I've played in a while. Thanks for such a great product! I'm having a blast!!

I'm glad you're enjoying the game. As for the problems you're experiencing, they are different from anything I've seen, and therefore very well might be caused by playing the game in Vista. (As you appear to know, FOF was not written for Vista. It does appear to work in Vista nonetheless, but I guess there are some problems when trying to work with other programs at the same time.)

I use the program 'King Kong Capture' <<LINK>>

It's free, simple, and it can be setup to just hit a button and save screenshots in a directory you specify, which is handy for doing sequential images.
