RE: Dividing Java part 2

Post by Freedom205 »

I now have the the Admirals forces cut off, and will start to eliminate them next turn. (with graphics)
In other news, the Admiral decided to send a surface bombardment group to Canton Island, but they were intercepted by my newly transferred Nells stationed there. (I had just activated them from rest this very turn) Only minor damage was done, but if he sticks around it will get ugly for them. (Canton Islands airfield just turned 4 today!)

My forces are speeding south towards Soerabaja........ but elsewhere things are not so rosy. The Americans are puting up a fierce fight at Bataan, and the Chinese threw us a curve and defeated out attack at Ichang. My follow up attack on the Admirals port at Chanpur ended with too many losses and nothing to show for it. arrrgggg

There has been a increase in the air battles over Burma and India. Java is slowing becoming an Imperial oil source. Oz--- the troops are digging in and waiting. A good portion of the Dutch forces did finally say good bye to their homeland and now are enjoying the comforts of the Aussie lassies. THe Dutch ground pounders are another issue and will have to wait, Japanese occupation.

Look Out Suva- Here Comes the Sumos

Post by AdmNelson »

3/25/42

DEI Mike is advancing across Java and should have completed occupation within a few weeks.

South Pacific The hammer for Suva is coming. At least 2 TFs we can see and one with 7 CVs.The other With BBs and APs. The one little naval air strike from Nandia land one 500LB bomb in the IJN CA Myok( don't think it was a critical hit either). Losing Canton Island and being able to stage aircraft from Pearl Harbor will make this ugly for the Allies. Can not tell how many more TFs are on the way to Suva. The ASW out of Noumea has been heavy with at least 3 to 4 ASW TFs daily attacking US subs in the area. New forward base will soon be Christmas Island. Do you think it will snowing on Christmas in July?

South Pacific Nandi gets hammered by 6 CAs and leave. This is probably round one of many rounds,.

Suva to Central Command--- send everything you can. Invasion is coming and not much to hold with, Nandi bombarded last night and the small catcus air force is not in good shape.

Central Command to Suva Command--- Other ares of operations have a priorty, Canton Island has IJN long bombers and will make getting supplies, men, and aircraft to you difficult.

Supporting bombardment group is the KB plus alot.

Yes, Suva is the target. We plan on slamming home the assault with 3 Divs plus the South Seas Detatchment, we hope this is enough. I am sorry I didnt send the mini KB out of Canton to attack anything fleeing Suva to the east, hindsight is always so clear.

Suva Command to Central Command--- The Lexington and Enterprise were sunk at Sydney two months ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Central Command to Suva --- Oh yes, forgot we will try to base the aircraft from the carriers. They have load on transports and be there in 2 months.

Suva Command to Central Command-- We only have two days.

Central Command to Suva Command--- We suggest you start planning a guerrilla compaign. We are having good success with that in the Philippines.

Suva Commnad to Central Command-- All we have here is beaches and grass skirts.

Despite the Admirals repeated comments on being up a creek at Suva, I still had a bad feeling in my stomach. (and I told him of this) Well that sour stomach proved itself this turn, with the heavy level bombers (B-17s, 26s and 25s) pounding the Akagi with 7 bombs, and the Shokaku with 3. Both are burning, but should make it to port with a little luck. With two flattops out of the mix, D-Day could get ugly for me. Tomorrow we will all know.

RE: The Heavies hit hard

Post by AdmNelson »

I am still in a tough spot. The whole Imperial Navy is coming, including a bunch of battleships. Three carriers with about 200 planes are still the hunt for Suva. Will Mike land on Nandi and march to Suva, or land straight on Suva? Three divs plus one brigade is still alot of combat power once a shore.

Losses for US 67 aircraft at Suva and 76 damaged. These will be hard to replace

D-Day will be tomorrow, as I needed a little more time to organize the surface defenses of the invasion force. I was surprised to see that Lew has kept some CAs around to make it interesting for my APs. (more surprised that the KB hasnt taken them out!)

RE: Nagumo Fleeing

Post by Freedom205 »

It didnt take long for VA Nagumo to realize it was time ot get out of Dodge. After another pounding from the Admirals LBA, and 3 CVs with loads of support it was time for discrection to be the better part of valor.
I see I dont have to post all the action, as Lew has already done it for me.

RE: Fleeing West

Post by Freedom205 »

With all forces fleeing toward Efate and parts west, it was a big day for the allied LBA. (though no capital ships were harmed) On a sad note, one of my Tfs (77) decided to invade Nandi again after i had loaded up all the troops for the retreat west. Result: 3700 POWs for the Admiral...... I hope he ttreats them well
