Weather Question

I notice there are four types of weather: clear, high clouds, low clouds, and squalls. I'm guessing that, in terms of carriers avoiding detection and strikes, each step is an improvement. Can anyone describe the hex colors / shades that indicate what is what?

How does the weather affect the carrier's own planes? Do squalls increase the likelihood of prangs?

Good question.  I'm wondering exactly how being in the middle of weather affects flight ops myself.
