Wrong File Call on PBEM End Turn

Post by Admiral DadMan »

Anyone else notice that the program calls the wrong file when you end a PBEM turn?

when you play as Allied, it calls "ljsave.bmp" when it should call "lasave.bmp" and vice-versa. Small but irritating since day One...

RE: Wrong File Call on PBEM End Turn

I speak as one who has made all the most elementary mistakes it's possible to make with PBEM files, [8|] so treat this reply with appropriate caution.

As I read it, when you merely save a game whilst entering orders, you can exit and reload it to enter further orders - hence you get the 'Save' screen appropriate to the side you are playing.

However, when you opt to 'end turn' in a PBEM, you are immediately transferring control to your opponent. The only further choice you can make is the save slot you'll be sending, and since control has effectively passed to your opponent, it's not inappropriate to indicate this by display of the opposing side's save screen.

I suspect that this also reflects how the code handles the 'end turn' event.
