Tool Tips

Post by blastpop »

No matter what my setting in the options, I can't get tooltips to work. I tried verbose- the standard setting, brief and none- and then reset them to verbose and still nothing. Is there another setting somewhere that controls whether they appear or the length? I'm thinking that they appear but the length of time is too short (set to to few ms) to even see them?

Give them a second to pop up.

I've played the game for several hours so far. They haven't popped up yet... after letting the curser sit for some time. Just kinda wierd since I've never had tool tip problems with any program to date.

I had that happen once during testing.  Rebooting my computer did the trick.

Does your mouse settings have an option like SmartMove that goes to the highlighted button in a dialog box? Or similar that could be messing with CAW?

I did a restart with no effect.

I don't think I have any settings for my mouse that would affect the tooltips either...

Hmm thats strange blastpop. I have occasionally seen problems with optical mice before (is your an optical type mouse?). I will look into this further and may have to add an extra options setting for those who are having the problems.

alexs,

I am using an optical mouse. I'm not sure what difference it would make, but then I'm not a programmer either... [:D]

I'm sure I am not the only one with the problem or will have a problem.

Sometimes my optical mouse, when perfectly still and just sitting on the desk, will still shake the pointer a very small amount.  This would probably cause the tooltips to not come up.

Makes sense- my mouse tends to "migrate" some while in place.

I've played with all the various mouse settings today to no avail... no tool tips. [:@]

I should add that I have an optical mouse, though it has never been a problem with tool tips in other programs.

Welcome to the club Littlejohn!

I've played the game enough that now I probably don't need them. OTOH maybe I missed something important the tool tips might impart that isn't in the manual or glossed over there. Annoying for sure, but in the scheme of things, not terribly important...

I agree blastpop. After going through the tutorials and playing some scenarios I have picked up most functions. It just makes it more difficult/tedious to learn, which of course is why the tips are there in the first place. But as you say, not a big deal.

And for the record, this is a great game and all kudos to Matrix and SSG for another fine product.
