Wish List Ideas (for mods or patches)

Post by jimwinsor »

1. I wish there was more collateral damage in the game.

IMO, there are not enough secondary explosions. By that I mean, if you shoot and hit something that is supposed to blow up (ie, fuel barrel, ammo crate, missle, etc...) ...it does so rather unimpressively, not really damaging nearby units, just kinda scorching the floor black in that square.

I remember back in the day...(reminisicing of Xcom)...stuff was really explosive and collateral damage was a major strategic element. One of my favorite Xcom maps was the city map with the gas station on it...any aliens staning next to those pumps when a grenade went off...heheheh! [8D]

So, minor wish list item one, things need to go BOOM more, and bigger. Fuel drums, boxes marked ammo, those missles in the military base, even parked cars should have a chance of a Hollywood style fuel tank explosion. AND an explosion should be able to set off a chain reaction...one fuel drum igniting nearby ones, for example.

In the same vein...anyone felled by a fire attack...the grenades being carried should start to burst like popcorn while laying in the flame zone like that!

2. Footprints in the sand/snow. Both humans and aliens make them, if you notice. And vehicles leave tire mark trails. The problem is, the alien footprints seem to vanish after only one turn. Human footprints and tire tracks do not. Why is that? This makes no sense...AND disavantages the human player, which can utilize this info for tracking purposes. VERY strategical, this is a nice gameplay touch that for some strange unexplained reason is not QUITE in the game.

I wish alien footprints were not removed like that after only one turn.

Things that would be good:  hand held scanner, anti-grav belt/armor, a better stun weapon, vehicle repair kit

Oh yeah that was number 3 on my list, some kind of mini map...which the hand held scanner could be, yes.

my main hassle with the game set up, is overall, we are more advance then they are now, they just get some fancy weapons

what about remote recon (hand held drones, replaceable drones)

improved weapons/ammo (we have rifles, what about ammo, anti Armor rounds, chem rounds)

improved rocket ammo, we got fancy nages, but still black powder rockets

how about APV that are stronger then a trooper, they should have improved scanners, weapons, armor and carry, geee, that is what us dumb humans do

how about scanners and weapons on the transport, it lands right in the middle of a pack of Aliens and don't see a thing

range of view, right now, the Aliens have a advantage, why, we would not let them now, why should they in the furture ?, that is scanners and drones are for, also APVs should have advance sighting range, since they could carry advance scanners

transports should have a upgradeable scanner that gets built in, early models and your blind when you land, later on, you know what is going on when you land

(might be overkill, but we know you don't land a transport with out support (gunships) how about remote drones, with 2 or 3 rounds, flame shells would work with our ideas on cleaning out a LZ)

I would like for the civilians to quit walking into poisonous gas or fire and then dieing.
I also would like a minimap to see the terrain and beings on it that are visible to the player. I don't want to uncover the map unless I've already done it but just to see the overall situation.
Perhaps having a second base for troops to be stationed at. Finances would naturally limit the amount of bases you could have but just one more base on the other side of the world that could sortie recovery missions would be nice.
The ending has a nice little movie there but overall it sucks. Perhaps modifying the ending so that <censored because of spoilers>.[;)]

Scanners would be very nice, but what i would like to see the most is proximity mines.Base missions would be a great place to have them at.And yes,dbt1949, able to have another base with troopers would be a blessing.

The original X-COM had a map that you could toggle on and off to make it easier to find "just detected" aliens...
