Aircraft Range Question?

Post by showboat1 »

Is aircraft endurance a measure of miles flown or flying time in minutes at cruise speed rating?

Endurance is supposed to be a measure of flying time at cruising speed.

So to get range in miles multiply Endurance times Cruising Speed then divide by 60. Then to get range in hexes divide by 60 again.

But watch for drop tanks in some of the mods...

Multiply cruising speed times endurance and divide by 3600 for range in hexes. That is always transfer range. Multiply that times 1/3 for extended range (round down) and times 1/4 for normal range (round down).

In RHS ONLY fighers have "correct" transfer ranges - because code is set up for fighter types. A fighter is anything with "fighter" in its name - including fighter bomber and night fighter. Transports have 8% too little range - because code gives us 50% of transfer range - and we want 42% - we reduce by 8%. Everything else gets 9% too much range - because code gives us 33% of transfer range - and we want 42%. The forum decided operational range matters more than transfer range.
