Hmmm.....very enjoyable.

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

Loaded the game up ,took about 2 hours to get it to run under vista but managed it in the end.IMHO it is better than SC/SC2.The defence of the low countries and france was very realistic with plenty of units to play with.Research and purchasing units is a doddle, units become available fairly quickly which makes planning offensives better.I love the convoy system.Defending/attacking supply routes is a big part of this game.Whilst defending Holland and Belgium the AI left a channel to Munich wide open,so i decided to send 3 french corps from the maginot line to try and capture it.Big mistake!
They never got there, the germans cut off their supply line then the luftwaffe bombed the crap out of them!
Yes,i am really enjoying this, not even bothered with the tutorial or manual because its so easy to get to grips with.

I'm curious to what you had to do on your system to get it working on Vista? Vista is not officially supported yet, but we're working with Firepower and Slithering on making it Vista-ready in the future.

What is the supply system like compared to SC2? I found SC2's to be non-existent quite frankly, and don't want to get burned getting another WW2 game that turns out to be poor.

I don't know about SC2 but supply in this game is vital, any element out of supply is a sitting duck, the only time I had to read the manual was in my first game my Op Sealion was halted as all my units where out of supply I just could not take London, once I worked it out London fell in 2 turns in the next game. If you expand to far to fast your units get cut off and destroyed

Air and Navy always seem to be in supply though, but for your ground units it makes a big diffrence

Hi Erik, once you know how, getting it to run under Vista is very easy.Simply right click on the shortcut to bring up a menu ,then " Run as Administrator".It works flawlessly for me.

[&:]Yeah, Vista takes some getting used to. You have to do the same thing to install any patch and/or override files such as Volcano Man's PzC graphics. I haven't put CEAW on my Vista laptop yet but if/when i do i'll report in, FYI i have had no problems with 99% of my Wargames from Matrix, AGEOD and HPS with my Vista Laptop.

Excellent. Matrix should pay you a commission on this sale. [;)]

BTW, I like Vista as soon as I turned UAC off. There has GOT to be a better way to give your customers some security other than harassing them every time you try to do something. Ugh.

LOL, if something goes wrong the first thing we'll hear is "it's not supported"[;)].

The commision (and credit) should go to Althered. He's the one who figured out how to run the game under Vista. Give the the credit where it's due.

I hope it isn't commision by the hour.  Two hours to "Simply right click on the shortcut to bring up a menu ,then " Run as Administrator"" seems a little too much to me :)

[X(]Oh really? He is the only person in the world to know how to use Vista? My God, i'm in awe[8|]. I was just trying to help someone in need who asked for a second opinion on whether or not it worked, so i stopped playing on my XP rig and installed it on my Vista rig, you can go give Althered a jelly rub for all i care[:'(].

I don't know which is worse, your (over-inflated) ego or your (obnoxious) attitude. I don't believe that I care for either one. And you can climb down from that ivory tower that you put yourself in (and give yourself multiple jelly rubs).

THP is the jelly rub expert. He's the one who said, "go give Althered a jelly rub for all i care". You'll have to talk to him about getting a "treatment". Ask him if he's a 21 year old blonde hottie.

All questions, requests, and/or comments concerning jelly rubbing should be directed to the local authority on that subject, namely TheHellPatrol.

p.s. You can pretend to be anything you want to.
