Japan continue the advance. On 20th imperial troops occupied Puerto Princesa and Masbate I. in the Philippines.
On 21st they took Lombok and they reduced to 0 the fort of Manila.
On the 22nd Tjilitjap (DEI), San Jose (Philippines) and Samo (Bismarck Archipelago) fell.
But also Port Blair has been conquered by Japan on the 22nd.

DEI

The Imperial Navy shelled Koepang during the night. I suppose that invasion of Timor is near.
Meanwhile four BBs shelled Batavia and some troops landed in Pontianak.

Philippines

With the loss of Boac, only Manila, remains in my hands. But the capita city will fall soon.
The first phase of the war should end in about three weeks. It’s better to start thinking about the future defense plans.

Philippines

The end for the braves of Manila is near. The fort has been definitely lowered to zero. 1’445 courageous lost their lives, but 1’085 japanese paid tributes.

Borneo

Pontianak fell today, after two days of fighting: 1’929 dutch soldiers have been captured.

DEI

Yokosuka 4. SNLF landed yesterday in Dili, and today captured the undefended island. My recon didn’t even spot the enemy ships...

Tonight two differents enemy cruisers TF shelled Palembang and Koepang (Timor), and devastated my bases.
A BB TF shelled instead Batavia, with the same result.

Philippines

Wow. Manila defenders hold again the city. They stopped another delib attack made by japanese troops, that lost 1’252 men, while I lost 1’767.

Japs troops begun to land in Koepang this morning, while opeartions in Java also are continuing.

SW Pac

I can see a lot of movements and air activity in this area. I suppose that Chuck intend invade PM asap. I don’t intend engage all the carriers that I dispose now in a decisive battle with KB at this stage of the war. Insteat I send two carriers in Cent Pac to support landing operations in Canton I. that will take place when KB will appear to surely support operations against PM.

Bandoend has been captured by jap forces.
The invasion of Timor is continuing. My Fortress and Hudson attacked the enemy fleet hitting only one AP. Koepang fell in the afternoon.
I’ll try a raid with the two british carriers. They are now in Perth.

SW Pac

Jap troops advance and captured Wau. I suppose that PM will be attacked only when Lae afld will be at size 4. This is, normally, the way to proceed. Since now it’s still at 3, I’ll try to reinforce PM with the 11. Australian Brigade, now in Townsville, and the 29. Brigade in Rockhampton. The Lexington will cover the operation.

It’s impossible to reinforce Port Moresby. Enemy aviation it’s too strong. At least 30 Kate from Lae and 20 Nell from Rabaul.

Philippines

Manila fell today. At least I hold the city two months more than historically have done the allied. Anyway, 26’616 allied soldiers have been taken as prisoners.

DEI

Only Dili remain in my hands, but it’s a matter of days. Same history for Batavia. It’s now time to think about the next jap offensive.

On 3rd , with the fall of Dili and the capture of 1’566 dutch soldiers, the Timor operation is over. My B-17 tried to bomb the baby-KB with no result.
On 4th finally one hit by my submarine. The dutch DD KXVIII hit with one torpedo BB Ise. She seems not so badly damaged but I’m sure this will send her in Japan after the DEI campaign.

The recon spotted a convoy NE of Milne Bay. The Saratoga group will investigate but will be very careful. If KB is in the back of this convoy I don’t want to fall in an ambush.

On 8th Singkep and Sawu I. have been captured by the enemy. They are also preparing the final assault on Batavia.

8’529 dutch soldiers surrendered in Merak. This was the last fighting group in Java, except Pamakasan.
Also Sabang, in Sumatra, fell today.

South Pac

Reinforcements are arriving from Panama Canal. I need a few more weeks. Troops are heading towards Pago-Pago and Christmas Island.
The defense line will be Noumea-Suva-Pago Pago-Christma I.-Palmyra. When those garrisons will be reinforced, I will organize an offensive.
Meanwhile I’m waiting for the next move of the japs.

I’m sending Saratoga, Lexington and Force Z north, in the Coral Sea. Chuck is continuing bombing Port Moresby and so I suppose this will be the next target of the Imperial Navy.
Recon has spotted 1 enemy APD NE of Luganville. Enterprise and Yorktown are sailing towards New Hebrides coming from Suva. They will sprint to intercept the enemy ship or, as I suppose, the enemy ships.

At Pucheng 19’480 chinese soldiers have been forced to surrender.

SW Pac

Planes from Yorktown and Enterprise sunk a japs AVD north of Luganville. Now another AP is between Luganville and Koumac and four others Aps are in Milne Bay.

DEI

Japan Empire occupied Kai I. on the 18th , just off Darwin. On the 19th Padang fell, on Sumatra.

SW Pac

Lexington and Saratoga CVBGs (TF17), with Force Z, have been spotted by a Glen launched by an enemy SS.
Yorktown and Enterprise (TF27) have been spotted on 17th when their planes sunk a japanese AV north of Luganville.

I really don’t know yet what Chuck is doing exactly, but I’m continuing to suppose that Port Moresby will be the main objective.
The garrison there is low on supplies and there is not too much that I can do. Enemy air force is too strong and my transport are always under enemy fire.

Now TF 17 will run W, towards enemy submarine. I hope that the escort will sink him, while TF 27 will enter in Noumea to refuel.

My LB-30 Liberators taking-off from Townsville, placed 3 bombs on an enemy AK at Milne Bay, but they didn’t attack Kido Butai.
All the japanese navy is now south of Milne Bay, heading for Port Moresby. I will now withdrawn Saratoga and Lexington. It’s obviously useless sending them in the jawl of the shark.
I need all the 4 carriers in order to hope to inflict some damage to the death star. Enterprise and Yorktown are refuelling in Noumea. They will then immediately sail north.

I-129 has been hit 3 times off Australian coast by carrier’s escort as I hoped a couple of days ago.
Meanwhile the invasion of Port Moresby is taking place. The enemy fleet is one hex away from my base and recon spotted seven carriers.
My carriers are grouping between New Caledonia and Australia, waiting also for the two british carriers, but I need few more days. PM will surely be lost, but I hope to engage with some result the death star.

Port Moresby fell today. For the japanese was an easy job. 7’079 soldiers have been taken prisoners.

My carriers are refuelling west of Noumea, but they are still waiting for the british TF, three days away. I think that when they will be grouped, the KB will be already gone.

March 26th – Aprile 2nd , 1942

On the 26th the japs took the Nicobar Island
During the other dazs, Chuck managed to occupy Pamakasan I., in front of Soerabaya, Merauke and Kiamana on dutch part of New Guinea, and Aru Island.

In SW Pac my carriers are now grouped NW of Noumea but all the six flattops are now returning to Noumea. Kido Butai is gone and I need now to plan my future defense, and waiting for the next move of Chuck.
