Everything looks great. Someone has done alot of painstaking research. I am seeing that the hardest work in these games is not the programming, its the historical research.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Been waiting for War in the Pacific (and now UV, the first sibling) for nearly two years. Is it morning yet?

Strange that Lexington is hit by 4 Vals halfway up the Solomons near Choiseul without any cap or escorts. What daredevil would attempt that? Does the screen not show escorts in TF, or does it only show targeted vessels? That WITP map looks friggin' fabulous; is this your doing Mr Christie? If so, you do make good cookies.:D

Hey Ron the screenshot you see there is the actual attack on individual vessels in the Task Force

What happens is you first get the CAP interception done then it cuts to the screen you are talking about, the aircraft attack in packets of 4 against individual ships, take anti aircraft fire and then drop bombs or torpedoes.

In reality probably what has happened here is the Lexs TF consisting of CV CA CLAA and 6 DD was spotted and attacked by 14 Zeros 24 Vals & 12 Kates .......16 Wildcats intercepted and shot down 2 Zeros 2 Vals and 3 Kates but lost 4 of their own.

The Vals & kates then split up and attacked individual ships with Lexington coming in for the most attention....you will find that most of your TBs & DBs get damaged in some way or another but its worth it if they can put a couple of torps in the carrier.

This is awesome game and its been a honour to be able to test it

You guys are gonna love it

Kinda figured that's what it was. Thanks, Crocky, I find I'm always on this forum waiting for UV launch. In Cmdr Alan Sheppard's words after wetting his suit in Freedom 7, "C'mon guys, fix the problems and light this candle!" :D

Screen Shots Comments & Questions

Post by pad152 »

Comments:

I think the ships combat screen would look better if the ships where in a row ... vs a column (aka PacWar).

Questions:

I saw in the screen shot uv04.jpg "Barge Hub for SWPAC", What is this? Are barges in UV, what can you do with them?

What do the green or red dots I see on some of the islands mean?

Thanks

Very nice

This title appears to be just what the doctor ordered. I am out of work and bedridden for the next two months (back injury).

While the game should run on my laptop, I think I will have my sons move my PC downstairs to my bedroom. With nice screens like this, I'm gonna want it on a 19" monitor :D

So when???

I was the one that put together the latest crop of screenshots. I mainly wanted to show off some of the great sfx eyecandy. :)

As to the Lexington, she was part of a TF that I thought I could sneek up to Shortland Island and do a hit and run attack on the base there. The weather leading up to this turn was forcats for "Thunderstorms" which helps to keep the enemy planes grounded. Well the weather broke didnt it. Then my TF was jumped on. I had grouped 4 carriers into one TF. After this turn, if I remember correctly, the Enterprise limped back home with a small DD escort. I pulled the remaining ACs back away from the approaching Jap TF.

Its taken me sometime to get used to using an AC TF. Most times I would get my ACs sunk from under me.

You have to learn the ranges of the Jap planes, use the weather forecasts and heaps of luck. Just like the real thing. :D
