Crash to blank screen - twice

Post by Dave Ferguson »

Yesterday and again today CEAW froze on opening, right when the white slitherine splash screen should appear. Instead it just stays black! eventually ctrl-alt-del is the only answer followed by a system reboot!

System is a 2GHz Pentium 4 with 768Mb of Ram and a Radeon 9200 graphics card

CEAW has been opened and closed several times and I get a increasing windows page file warning.

It seems that the page file just gets bigger with each use and does not recover when CEAW closes?

Are you playing the high spec option because high spec is 1 Gb RAM

if you have 756 MB RAM running high spec then that is above what your computer can cope with and result can not be promised to be stable.

You can go into settings.txt file and set the LOW_RAM 0 which means you will reset that option and be asked again with the System Spec popup...

The game is running much better now and even seems faster so I chose the wrong system spec on installation. You don't get the maximum zoom level, because of the large graphics overhead? but this is OK as I prefer then middle zoom level anyway.
