Disappearing pilots
Between the 7/13 and 7/15/44 turns my opponant (KDonovan) and I each had about 30% of our pilots disappear. Saves are available. Who wants them?

I'm betting this is triggered by running out of pilot slots. But we will look and see.

RE: Disappearing pilots
Make sure you hold on to the saves from before the pilots disappear, no way to go backwards without those.

Also, i still don't have Kdonovan's turn and password...

RE: Disappearing pilots

RE: Disappearing pilots
Ah - thanks for that - i didn't know if i was supposed to be looking in the pilot list, or for a specific squadron or what... this will make it considerably easier (esp. to see if the problem duplicates).
Since i am turning in for the evening now, i'll get to examine this tomorrow! [8D]

RE: Disappearing pilots
Check out my fighter squadrons at Tokyo . Thats where most went missing from.
Most were only in their 50s with no kills so I don't have a nice list like Kenny.
Now I see why I am getting killed in A2A. [:D]
Edit: Wasn't Putnam still in a P-40 when he had his "Accident"?

interesting....i think as Joe stated we probably ran out of pilot slots. Its mid-1944 in our game and we've only lost 23,000 planes combined, with a large portion loss on the ground
thanks for the work so far

RE: Disappearing pilots
Can you guys each send me your War in the Pacific.exe files???
Joe suggested i check the files using your exe files and see what happens...

RE: Disappearing pilots
i am also going to try re-running the turns, but this time booting in between each segment of your turns (instead of just at the start)... perhaps that will change things...

main WITP folder - if you use default setup, it is in "c:/Matrix Games/War In the Pacific/" iirc.

errk - not received - i suspect my e-mail provider has bounced the e-mail because it had an exe file... but let's wait before trying a resend - i have an update...
RE: Disappearing pilots
UPDATE:
well, i decided to try an experiment - i re-ran the turns, but REBOOTED after each step (i.e. - cold boot - load IJ turn - finalize - save - reboot - load Allied turn - finalize - save - reboot - load IJ turn - check and the Tokyo fighter squadrons)... and it appears the pilot loss goes away... i am going to work on it a bit more...

RE: Disappearing pilots
FURTHER UPDATE:
THis is just strange: i checked the Japanese fighter units in Tokyo as you suggested after doing all the reboots - no pilots appeared to be lost (the get pilots buttons were greyed out).
i then saved the turn - rebooted - reloaded the save turn and bunches of pilots had disappeared... what the heck??? [&:]
The numbers were NOT the same as in your saved turn - i.e. one unit lost 11 pilots in your save, but only 6 pilots in the reload (and none were lost before the save...)
