There's a lot of good in this game. In fact, the first patch hasn't even come out and all I can find to comment on are tweaks; no major booboos so far.

Just small items I'm seeing -

BBs too weak - I've seen the Yamato and the Penn sunk with one torpedo (in the same game!)
DDs, APs (and CVs to a lesser degree) too strong - Ive see a DD take 7 bombs and 2 torpedoes and still float (these were real hits, not fog of war hits) In fact, so far it's been my experience that a DD often takes as many or more hits to sink than a BB.

Also, fire is handled in the game. Shouldn't flooding be a major issue? (Maybe it already is; I mean one torpedo did sink the Yamato, haha)

Also, I would LOVE to see some details on dogfights. We are told how many plans are lost on a strike, but how many CAP fighters are lost to escorts (and maybe even a note letting us know when CAP has shot down a search plane). It would also be nice to have an estimate of the amount of planes destroyed on the ground in a ground strike. (ps. I'm going to add this last part to the wish list)

I hope this helps. My goal is to offer constructive criticism for a game I really enjoy.

Good suggestions.

Regarding flooding, however, maybe when the bars are all gone it represents flooding that is catastrophic enough to eventually sink it?  Perhaps it's represented that way already, dunno.

Regarding the damage, there are a few points I would make. Flooding can be dangerous, but in a ship of sifficient size and compartmentalisation, only if some other factor, say a raging fire, prevents counter-flooding and leads to a capsize.

As for damage in general, our routines have to accomodate a very wide range of possibilities. Lets look at one encounter, that of the Bismarck vs a large proportion of the Royal Navy. Most theories have just one 15" shell sinking the Hood, and nobody has an accurate count of just how many large and medium calibre shells and torpedoes plus some scuttling action it took to sink the Bismarck. Now we could sort of average things out, but we prefer a system where the unlikely still has a chance to happen, just as it does in real life.

As for the Destroyers, don't take the word 'hit' too literally. Think of it as 'damaging attack' which for a destroyer, and indeed other ships, could include near misses. So your plucky destroyer didn't take all those hits in her vitals. Perhaps many of the bomb hits were near misses, causing flooding but not fire. Perhaps the torpedo hit on the bows, not in itself a killing blow.

All things are possible, and that's just the way we like it.

Are folks sure they're not basing their observations off the reports they receive from their pilots, instead of waiting for the end game screen?

Those reports can be misleading. That's one thing I really like about the game. Not knowing who's gone until the battle is over. And reading books about the battles themselves, you see how much pilots on both sides inflated/overstated the results of their strikes.

"You men cheer when the battle is successful. When it isn't, you threaten hari-kari. You're acting like hysterical women."
