RE: Japanese Economy numbers. Couple of questions.

Post by aztez »

I currently can put 5 squadrons of Zeros and some 100 bombers into DEI campaign.

I do hope it is enough.

One thing I'am think about is the fact that I overlooked the other Philippine islands. Allthough I doubt Chuck can bring in too much supplies nor reinforcements there.

In overall terms It is actually fun to play Japan for a change. I don't need to hide from the start and have huge amount of options available to me.

Only the economy side seems quite complex but I think I get it working via errors ----> corrections rhytm. [:)]

Any chance of encircling Baguio on the PI? Maybe you could save yourself a lot of time later if Manila has less troops to defend. On the other hand I doubt chuck would allow to bypass Baguio, in my game against him he seemed to be very skilled in land combat.

Seems that China is getting hot, lets see how this affects your potential russian campaign.

Also Palembang is gonna be interesting, espescially as it looks you're going for a landing without owning Singapore. Hopefully your 100 bombers can keep Sing, Batavia and the other airfields on Java closed during the landing. Good luck.
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

Going for Palembang before securing the rest is a huge risk, because he might mass bombers in different bases and crush the oil fields if you don't have enough fighters on CAP... You have to understand that once you have Palembang in a hostile environment, you will have to keep at least a Datai of Zeros on 90% CAP to protect it.

I will have to agree here, what's the rush in taking Palembang, it's not as if the oil is going anywhere with you in command of Singkawang and Kuching.

Why not wait until Singapore and North Java is secure?

Hi guys.

First off I really do appreciate the input and views. So big thanks for the feedback.

It is a midnight sun holiday season here in Finland. A lot of Rock festivals, etc around the country, people heading to summer cabins. We just stayed home (due to newborn) and barbequed some and had few beers. Very nice day overall.

Mistmatz: I was actually just going ask you about that PBEM. (I remembered reading/following it) So, I did remember correctly. [:)]

I have been looking into it and there really is no chance of bypassing nor encircling the Baguio. The good thing is that I doubt Chuck can hold onto it for long by looking at the recent combat reports.

China... it is a mess. Guerillas everywhere and Chuck really seems to know what he is doing with the ground units. I certainly hope I can stop him at Nanchang.

As for Russia... well all I need is a stalemate in China. I doubt I can overrun Chuck but who knows what happens. I think we will know much more after next turn.

Palembang operation will be cancelled. (due to viewer input [:D]) or at least postponed for an while.

veji1: Thanks for enlightening me out of it. I really don't want to start repairing oil resources there so as said the operation will be postponed. (I might go for BB run or two but that is it until I have firm hold on the Northern DEI)

btw, you have been around longer than me... just wandering when are we going to see an AAR by you? [:)]

tlkillerich: Wise words. I will postpone the operation as you said there is no definate hurry at the moment. Allthough the Japanese airforce will hit Java hard soon. (I really want  destroy bulk of ABDA airforce there)

Pauk: Thank you for answering couple of questions. Really do appreciate it.

Yeah, instead of rushing palembang keep its airfield (and port later on) under constant bombardment from the air and later from the sea.

Disrupting the base forces and engineers there is vital. By the time you have taken all airfields and bases in range of palembang from where your opponent can stage heavy bombers, there should be few active engineer squads left in palembang. Then you can take it without having to worry much about getting half of the oil there damaged.

String: Thanks. That confirms than how the damaged resources are calculated.

I will postpone my the Palembang plan for time being. No hurry as you said too. [:)]

This is excellent indeed. All of the allied units at Baguio retreated into San Fernando. (see the screenshot)

Attacking force 101402 troops, 393 guns, 323 vehicles, Assault Value = 1894

Defending force 18883 troops, 26 guns, 34 vehicles, Assault Value = 358

No Allied losses

Japanese ground losses:
1117 casualties reported
Guns lost 13
Vehicles lost 4

Allied ground losses:

Now the 1000 dollar question is what to do here! [:D] This is the initial plan:

a) Move the mainbody of forces into Clark Field. (4 Units reported there)

b) Once Clark Field is captured move immediately into Manila too. I intend to leave a holding force blocking those troops at San Fernando.

c) Keep bombing those troops constantly with my airforce and navy.

d) I intend to move 2 additional brigades into Luzon. 1 Brigade is coming from Tokyo and the other from Kuching. (This was freed up due to the cancellation of Palembang offensive)

No sign of RAF anywhere at Singapore. The bad news is the FLAK as said. The GM Nell bombers are assigned to another duty since their losses were horrible also I will withdraw Betty's from this operation.

The Japanese army should enter Singapore next turn. Hopefully I can withstand the initial shock assault. [:-]

I'am supporting these troops with the airforce best as I can.

Hopefully the bastion will fall soon.
