Ike99 (Japan)-vs-Lopo (Allied)
Scenario 17.
Fixed Reinforcements at 100%
Japanese sub doctrine is off.

May-July 7th, 1942.

Ok...here we go. The first 2 months of me and Lopo's game has been really just an Allied pullout and a Japanese advance. There been no surface action of any kind and just one B-17 raid launched against shipping.

The one place the Allies initially enjoyed success is with the submarine against my transports. Not because my transports were not escorted because they were, just because that's the way it goes sometimes. As well the Allies can almost be certain where the Japanese player is going initially yes?

Odds have averaged out now though and Lopo has lost one submarine recently and his interdiction of my movements have ceased. This is being assisted by aircraft operating from the forward fields now. As the air umbrella opens his submarines will increasingly find it difficult to operate near my bases.

So, me and Lopo are still getting set up and in
position.

The only thing I would do different as the Allied player is get (If I was going to pull everything out)as much of those supplies and fuel out of Port Moresby as possible when I left! I walk in Port Moresby and get a gift of 20,000 supplies!

If your cutting and running out of Port Moresby why not ship and fly as much as possible out before the Japanese get there so the Japanese player can't get them? I don't have to supply Port Moresby now for a long time.

I've never played the Allied side but it seems it would be possible to leave Port Moresby empty for the Japanese player. Maybe I'm wrong.

Seven...4E's have been lost.

So this is what it looks like now....

Excuse me, but you posted that this game is vs me, an obvious error, when it should read Lopo.

Your focus so early on with VPs is invalid as even if you hold a 2:1 advantage it can melt away rapidly.

As the Allied commander the last thing I would do with my precious transports is risk them just to get supplies out of PM.......he will need every one he can lay his hands on in 43 for his counter invasions.

Ike99-vs-Lopo
Scenario 17
Japanese sub dotrine is off
100% commitment both sides

The Month of July.

As the Allies have pulled out the Japanese have moved in and started a lot of construction work. Stockpiled supplies, set mine fields and so on. Submarines patroled likely shipping routes. There has been no suface or carrier action of any kind so far in the game. Except for one Japanese bomber attack against shipping at Luganville in the third week and a few B-17 raids on Irau not much happened as far as actual fighting in July.

Losses on both sides reflect this.

Shipping losses in July....

Japan- AP's Hakozaki Maru and Hirokawa Maru sunk. PC Ch30 sunk. SS I-4 sunk

Allies-hmmm they had a SC hit a mine and sink, can't remember the number. AK Adelong was torpedoed by bombers and sunk.

I think that's about it for the entire month.

Both side have lost right around 75 aircraft.

9 four engine bombers have been destroyed.

I did have a few transports catch B-17 bombs and lightly damaged but ports close by will put them back in circulation in the near future. The Allied light cruiser Hobart hit a mine and was damaged. So just not a lot of combat action in July. A whole lot of behind the curtain things but I'm not able to talk about it.

I do get the feeling Lopo wants to do something though. He can see a lot of what is going on up north and I get the feeling he might be a bit worried about it. All the airfields, the mine layers, transports, construction and aircraft he is catching sight of. The points lead widening. As said before, the last week of the month he sent some B-17 bombers raids north and they bombed from high altitude. I think this was more to test the resistance more than anything else. I didn´t show much of what I had. Until I see a serious commitment of forces I won't commit either.

I can confidently say any attempt to move north by the Allies at this time would be repulsed with very heavy loss to him. Very little to me. I think he knows this. So he want`s to do something but can`t.

Didn`t take Nevea this time. Too hard to supply, for both sides I think.

That´s how July ends.

Hmmm...real life. I´ve got one of those. It involves going to work, paying bills and tolerating people I don´t like mostly. [:)]

I remember a good quote on this...¨Most times I do what I have to, sometimes I get to do what I want.¨

Ahhh...those pictures did not come from the net. You won´t find them.

After not hearing from my opponent for 2 weeks I believe it is fair and reasonable for me to claim victory. I wanted to give them until Friday. Today is Friday. This brings my record to 2-0 on scenario 17 at 100% commitment...hmmmm...the scenario Japan can´t win. [:D][:D][:D] So......

JAPANESE VICTORY!!!

Actually Lopo has a new house and computer problems so that's probably why your game is on hold.

There has been this break and some others too Todd.

Yes he told me he was moving and would be offline for a week. But then he came back on after he had moved to his new home, sent a couple turns then disappeared.

That was almost 2 weeks ago.

Either way, me and Lopo started this game before I started that game with you Todd and that´s been how long ago? This game was just in August game time!

No hard feelings for Lopo but I can´t average a turn a week when a turn averages 5 minutes and the game is what?...20 months long.

Hmmmm....no.

This games over for me.

Sorry.
