1.806 squadrons unloading without pitots

Post by trojan58 »

Ever since I installed the 1.806 patch I've noticed that when you transport planes by ship (AK's)
when they unload the squadron has no pilots and you have to draw them from the pool, this creates a severe
drain on the pilot pool. So far it has happened to me about 6 or 7 times. I now have to move my squadrons around by island hopping Is this a new feature or a bug

I've not seen that before.
I'm on 1.806 and my air units don't loose pilots at all, they unload damaged but complete.
Are you sure they had pilots before you loaded them ? (silly question but one has to ask)

Hmmm... well i am about to find out in my own game (in the next turn or so) if this is a problem. [X(]

Have you checked about the pilots being there before the load?? [&:]

The squadrons involved seam to be those that arrive as reinforcements so I assumed they had pilots to go with the operational aircraft.

USUALLY they arrive with pilots - but sometimes they don't due to pilot shortage or a glitch... i would hate to try running down one glitch that was not present but due to something else.

Do you have saves that you can check to see what pilots were there??

Bob's right.  About 10% or so of my disbanded air units come back and don't have pilots assigned.  Sometimes they don't have planes assigned either.  Not really a big deal since I play the Japanese and they would fill up with untrained weenies.  I end up doing it manually.  Same result either way.

I never had new air reinforcements arrive without pilots however.

I just unloaded over several turns three different aircraft groups.  They had arrived in SF as reinforcements, were immediately loaded on freighters and finally reached the Philippines to be unloaded.  All three units had full pilot compliments after being unloaded.

Presumably this represents some sort of a glitch, then - i.e. - happening to occasional users and not consistently to all...

If there are prefinalized save(s) available - let me know and i will look into the matter.

EDIT - if this is PBEM, a nonfinalized Japanese turn, and a *finalized* US turn before the glitch would probably suffice. The IJ player could provide both (if he has saved them) but i would still need to get passwords.

I've seen this happen on numerous occasions. It only happens when reinforcement aircraft arrive for a unit thats already on the board to replace a/c lost in action.

Heres an example of what I've seen in my games: 7 Kittyhawks will arrive at Sydney as reinforcements for 77 RAAF Sq & the 7 a/c are identified as 77 RAAF Sq/1 and has no pilots. The parent unit is at PM and has 9 a/c assigned and usually 16 pilots, but sometimes fewer, so I'll draw whatever number of pilots I'll need from the pool and assign them to the fragment unit and move them onto to join the parent unit.

Hopefully this is what you're seeing and not the start of a new bug, like the one that popped up while back in UV where I had pilots vanish from active squadrons.
