RE: Fleeing West

Post by AdmNelson »

The trap may have sprung, but it was not complete-- Mike has done a good job of pulling out and not trying to continue the operation. The BBs TFs did not hit the transports in the afternoon as I had hoped the day before. This will lead to allowing the 48th Division and South Sea Detachment to escape. THe small crusier forces took a beating to allow all 3 BB TFs to hit the transports in the afternoon, and not one did. As they say "OH WELL".
I think only the Hiryu is in real danger. I couldn't get close enough with my carriers to find out. The Prince of Wales and Repluse were both hit by Betties and Nells, and probably require yard time.

RE: April Fools

Post by Freedom205 »

Admiral Nagumo in a telegram to the Emperor....... April 1, 1942. Units are fleeing west as fast as possible to avoid allied LBA and prowling surface raider groups. KB is in shambles (though will fight again) and supporting Nells and Betties would rather attack AKs in port with heavy air cover instead of fat and juicy allied BBs and BCs that are within torpedo range. All in all we are taking quite a bitch slappin!

Emperor to Admiral Nagumo..... I get it, April fools right

Nagumo to Emperor........... Not!

I have to apolagize to everyone for not keeping up the AAR this last week. The pounding I recieved from Lew coincided with a very busy scedule at home and the arival of my new fishing boat [8D] and fishing is my second favorite activity! BTW, witp is not my favorite. It is up there, but not my favorite if you know what I mean.

The final cost in the ill-fated Suva operation was high. The Hiryu and Akagi both were lost (the Hiryu in Noumea harbor, which was bad luck. She was at 67 floatation damage one day, and sunk the next. Not what i had expected from a level 6 harbor with 2 ARs) Most of the 4th and South Seas Detatchment became shark food, though is enough left of both that they are not remnants, and should make good defenders of some bases somewhere.
The Java campaign has come to a close, and Bataan will be over is a few days. After that, looks like it is time to turn turtle and dig in for the Admirals coming aggression.

RE: back to business

The Java campaign has come to a close, and Bataan will be over is a few days. After that, looks like it is time to turn turtle and dig in for the Admirals coming aggression.

I wonder what part of being a turtle this is.

RE: The Admiral backs off

Lew decided to back off with his CVs this turn, but my Nells still managed 3 fish in the Saratoga. Fingers are crossed on that one.
At andaman Island the Admiral surprised a group of MLs and sent 3 to the bottom, sad, I love MLs.

Allied troops at Bataan are out numbered 4-1 -- out numbered in guns 40-1 ---only in vehicles do we out numbered the Japanese 4-1

Allied vehicles are being used as pill boxes and strong points--- they are a great spot to throw rocks from at the Japanese, since supplies have been exhausted
