As an AFB I have learned a lot from this game. Honda very cleverly exploited all of the early moves that an agressive Allied player tends to make. I hope to learn a lot about late war offensives from Raver now. Bring back the pussy in the bra!
Exploitation? C'mon now....He conquered all of Australia, most of India and a good share of the Pacific. He smashed the Allied fleet (argueably, to some extent, he smashed it beyond repair, greatly reduced its effect from here on out) and generally battered the Allies badly through ingenuity and brilliance...even Raver admitted that. If that wasnt true it would be clear and no one would be wildly interested in this like they are. To achieve these things you need nothing less than brilliance, regardless of anything.

That kind of discrediting of Honda's achievements is rather ignorant to say the least, I know youre on the "other side" with things but cmon...you're discrediting the true brilliance he's achieved so i've gotta side with him on this. (and im neither a AFB or JFB)

Also, in all fairness - youre saying every aggressive Allied player does the exact same thing, This is very ridiculous going hand-in-hand with what you're implying here and what you're trying to discredit Honda for. It's even worse if it's true that all aggressive Allied players do the exact same thing and those are the players that are so unoriginal they will be defeated time after time. In some ways it's hypocritcal of you to state this and then discredit Honda. Honestly, even if this is true, if the Allied player had something that predictable and mindless to do then he probably wouldn't win against Honda anyways, because clearly Honda is genuinely clever, not merely at exploiting pre-defined moves either. There's no way he could have pulled this off anyways if he had such a thing to follow and he didn't anyways. Another fact is that Honda plays the game for the spirit of the game, he wouldn't do that to win even if he could.

I'm not trying to be jerk here and i'm not trying to be hostile at all. I just think you're being rather ignorant towards Honda's brilliant victory. I think you're just quick to say this because you're too extreme with AFB vs JFB.

I don't think this is even true at all either, even if it was possible for Honda to do that. Do all AFB's do the exact same movements every time then? What are all those different and unique AFB AAR's all about then? lol

I think you have taken my comments the wrong way. Honda is a genius. Raver is an aggressive Allied Player. He leaned too far forward and left the underside of Australia exposed with no reserve in the area and did the same in India. These are things that most AFBs do, but Honda has brilliantly exploited this (in the best sense of the word - it is all part of battle to exploit an opponent's weakness) by hitting the Allied weak areas with well supplied and supported offensives and sustaining them despite having an opponent as experienced as Raver to deal with. It is a truly brilliant and inspiring example. I have infinite respect for this and did not mean to imply gameyness.

As the game moves on Raver will be seeking to exploit the fact that Honda's forces now have a larger area to defend and he will attack in the areas where Honda is weak. I hope to learn as much from this phase as I have from Honda's masterful victories.

Honda has always been ready to make the decision to withdraw if any of his plans looked like they might result in a defeat and loss of striking power and has maintained his strategic balance. The one area where he did not do this was in the Marshalls, but Raver has stated that his early move here was as much an attempt to distract Honda as it was to take advantage of the perceived weakness to secure jumping off points for his future offensive.

This is a fantastic AAR and Honda's achievments are all the more impressive because he is not playing an inexperienced player. I may have not made my respect (for both parties) as clear as I intended in my original post.

I do not think you have to try to be a hostile jerk[;)]

Well first off.....lets cut these "Victory" talk.  Honda has only gained ground, he has not yet forced the allies to surrender.  Having said that Honda has done some brillant moves and has todate out foxed me a number of times.  I would have to rang Honda san as the best player I have yet played.  But there is still a LOT of fight left in the ol' raver and I intend to retake the lands that he has stolen. (Thief !)  Just sit back guys and enjoy the show.

Haha I wasn't being a hostile jerk. Now you are [:'(] obviously I did misunderstand what you said and I wasn't being hostile so what does it matter?

No big deal though.

Hostile? Damn, I was going for passive aggressive! It is often difficult to convey exactly what you mean in this format, as you understand your point when you write, forgetting that others may not. The ensuing confusion is half the fun....[:D]

I can't wait to see what happens next. Raver's losses have been greivous and it may take him a little time to build up for major offensives, but I expect he'll be able to be a royal pain in the arse in the meantime!

Hi girls, back from vacation!
I see Raver was as diliget as ever and kept you updated with some turns we managed to exchange on my two visits home during the last month...[8|]

As for the little "discussion" we had over the possible meanings of the word "exploit" I'd just like to say that my personal opinion goes with all you lovely people here. It was really over nothing and but, although word exploit belongs to military language in a very positive light, in the gaming community its implications are negative. Add to that that WitP is a military game and you get disscusion like the one above. Back to war now...

I'll just give a qiuck sitrep.

The game is nearing the end of March '43. Still no major operations along the front lines. From time to time, the Allies are attacking empty/uncaped bases in India and the Kuriles. For some time now we are witnesses of a major Allied sub offensive throughout the Pacific. Areas infested include aproaches to Japan and many convoy routes. So far little success was achieved by the subs and two were sunk.

So much for now.

Cheers

Sub ops have been stepped up big time....and while I have lost two subs I have sunk 12 Jap AKs/TKs.   The "new" torps are starting to work well.

Would LOVE to fill you guys in on the end-run that I have planned but that would let the cat out of the bag.   [8D]  Big action coming in about three months time.

Yeah you have to expect the odd loss here and there, but by and large my subs are on the up and up.  The incidents of hits from my subs has increased 267% and I now notice that Hero Honda is escorting his supply TFs and that means that assests are tired down.

Honda has crawled from under the rock that he was hiding under.

A Jap ASW pounds one of my subs that is lurking off Japan, but she does get a shot off from her rear tube and tears a hole in one of the Jap DDs.     The sub should make it home but will be in for repairs for awhile.
