AAR Contest Extended (and expanded)

Post by Gil R. »

We have decided to extend the deadline for the AAR contest, which was today (and still is today in certain time zones) by two weeks, making the new deadline July 15 (which is a bit more than two weeks, but gives you all an extra weekend). Also, in light of comments regarding the word and screenshot limits, we're raising these to a maximum of 4000 words and 15 screenshots. (Those of you who have already submitted entries can expand them, or keep them as is. Deciding to keep entries within the original parameters will not hurt one's chances.)

Please note that the extension is not in any way a reflection on the quality of the AAR's that have been submitted (which none of the judges have yet seen).

For information on entering the competition, just find the relevant thread in this forum. (I'd copy and paste the URL, but the computer I'm using at the moment doesn't have a functioning control key.)

Okay, you were nice enough to extend the deadline. Now I have no excuse not to finish up my AAR. Hey, it's just like being back in school again!

That's the spirit!

In retrospect, the cap of 2000 words may have been a bit too low -- we hope that raising the limit will encourage more people to attempt this. After all, not everyone is Ernest Hemingway and able to write succinctly. Heck, some people can't write an AAR without using the word "Greesh!" in every other sentence...

Remember, the deadline is looming, and it would be great to have more submissions. If you don't have time to start playing out the whole war and documenting it, surely you have time for a campaign or a single detailed battle.

Let this serve as the final reminder that the deadline is July 15 (Monday), and that the maximum number of words was raised to 4000 and screenshots to 15.

Oops, July 15 is Sunday. What I meant was we want submissions in by first thing in the morning Monday, so those of you who want to use Sunday night can do so. No one will care if you submit your entry after midnight.

Hell, to make things easy, like just say the deadline is noon on Monday, Eastern Standard Time.

Ernest Hemingway wrote succinctly?

Shakespeare! Now there was a man who could convey a lot in few words.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing some more AARs. I'd do one myself, but I'm a techno-tard and can't figure out how to post screens.

Valdemar

You don't need to post screenshots. The instructions have info on how to submit AAR's, which is by e-mail. We'll post the winners.

Now, if you don't know how to take a screenshot, that's quite easy: hit CTRL-SHIFT-PRINTSCREEN (to copy) and then go to the "Paint" program that most/all PC's have and hit "Paste," and then save the file as a JPEG.
