Better still save your serial number to word doc. place in a folder on the same CD and when u install the game just copy and paste the S/number. also u can save all your patches and mods to the same DVD if u use a DVD instead a CD

It's such a simple procedure to buy a download game, but I am always amazed when I read posts concerning the loss of serial numbers. Since the serial number is an integral part of the purchase, the first thing I do, even before installing the game is open Notepad and copy paste the order information w/date of purchase (from the confirmation email) and if necessary the last 5 digits of the credit card, then last item the serial number, save it as "BlahBlahGame (Order/Serial Info).txt". Save at least 2 copies or burn to CD/DVD and it is as good as having the hard copy.

Yep, burning a disk or using an external back-up device is a must.

A few weeks ago I had a major malfunction resulting in a re-format. Sparing you the sordid details; I blew the back-up drive right along with the system drive. Whilst going through the ropes of reinstalling (raid 0-b.s.)I was wondering what was I going to do now with a 160GB backup drive gone. Staying calm (I think) I checked another couple of PC's on the network and found one backup drive loaded with goodies, including my Matrix games. I was still missing a game serial number, but with Matrix's serial # retrieval system, that was no problem at all. I did notice that the game install download was not readily available from the "my games" section-I hate to think why that is.

I never thought that such a total loss of data would happen as I've been very careful about backing up. My losses amounted to about 150 bucks-it could have been much more if I had not moved a few folders (G B's worth) to another machine. I now have added game installation disks to an external library. An external hard drive is on my wish list for this summer.

I have you beat on that one. I have purchased seven of the games. I was fortunate to beta test two games which brings my total to nine Matrix games on my computer.

Or you could register you games here under "Matrix Members Club". There is a place to add your serialnumbers and a link that will give you an e-mail with them all....

Couldn't be easier as a backup.

I lose or don't keep my order number and my cards change. I have about 4 games I can't play now because all I did is buy the download. I will in the future only buy both.

all you have to do is to send all that stuff to your gmail account - you can log in look in your serials folder and its all there forever can retrieve it anywhere anytime
5 digits of the credit card, then last item the serial number, save it as "BlahBlahGame (Order/Serial Info).txt". Save at least 2 copies or burn to CD/DVD

your CD/text file/HD/backup/hardcopy will be destroyed when Sherman burns his way through your town but google will outlive you - plus if you store your stuff online you already have your browser open ready to re-download or retrieve more info
