Preorder

Post by fthein »

Hi

for those of us who have preordered this game a few years ago will we get the download or the boxed version?

I have been wondering the same thing for awhile now. I always buy the boxed version w/manual. Don't know if people like me will have to add the difference to get the boxed version.

I assumed that it was going to be the download rather than the more expensive boxed version.

When we pre-paid for it, we were paying for a physical copy though, since a downloaded version wasn't even a possibility at the time. It will be interesting to see how Frank and Matrix handle this delicate issue. If we pre-order people are only offered the direct download, I certainly hope that the option to 'upgrade' to the physical copy is available.

I'm another preorder.

I'm also hoping for the boxed version as that's what was ordered

With release almost upon us, what is the official word on the pre-orders? Will we be able to download the game as soon as it is released and will a physical copy be mailed to us?

Well, as another forum member kindly pointed out (I must've forgot) I do not work for Matrix

But, if I were in their shoes, I would like to thank the support of those who pre-ordered by allowing them the digital download and physical option.

I did not preorder, but it seems to me if you did all that time ago, you should be rewarded for your faith.

As someone who did pre-order; almost five years ago to the day now; I certainly agree.[;)] Matrix has been very quiet on this issue. I hope to hear something concrete today and actually have the game in a day or two.

Yeah, it's sorta crazy. It's a very unusual situation. Frank was an independent Developer when he started the project, and then Matrix became involved about in the middle of the developement cycle. The game changed names and Matrix helped with the developement. I remember Frank saying that he would just have to swallow the difference in price, but that was many months ago. Matrix has never made any statement about pre-orders. I assume that Frank and Matrix have come up with some solution. I just hope it doesn't screw up the ordering process, because us pre-order people will be ordering in a different way than normal.[&:]

I also preordered serveral years ago and I'm glad this game is finally being released. However, my sense is that fullfillment of the preorders will be a special process that will not be in place until after the general release has been made. So if you are anxious to get the game as soon as it is available for download you may have to buy it that way and perhaps get a refund from Frank later.

But that is just my hunch since nothing concrete has been said about this for the past several years.

We did have Frank's welcome reassurance about honouring the commitment so its just a question of the detailed arrangements which hopefully will soon be revealed.

I can't imagine that would be the case. It would be very, very foolhardy of any company to show such poor service to such loyal customers.

If I were a pre-orderer, then I would like to think that I would have to fill in a form and my copy would be shipped to me immediately it's ready AND I would be able to get the digital download right away.

fyi When you order from Matrix games and you are taken to the Digital River website, there is a place to enter a special promotion code. I expect pre-ordered folk will have a promotion code sent to them.

Erik, you guys must know what the deal is with the pre-order guys by now, since the game may be released today. How will we order/download the game and will we be shipped a physical copy when they become available?

Am I the only one who sees the lack of response here as an ungood thing?

We are planning to give some coupons to Frank for those who pre-ordered so that you can effectively get the game for free, but Dave is the one who was working out the details so I'm not 100% informed on that yet.

I think the question the pre-order crowd has is this: Should we just download the game as soon as it is available from digital river and then assume that we will get reimbursed later? Or do we have to wait, so that some special arrangement can be made, so that we don't have to plunk down our money in the first place?

Looking forward to Monday. [:)]

Exactly; I certainly hope that we don't have to wait even longer for the game in order to use our coupons.[&:]

IMPORTANT: No, if you pre-ordered do not purchase the game until Dave posts official info on how to do it. The coupon is used as part of the ordering process, not afterwards.
