Sadly, I took three years of French back in high school. I knew that darn it. I'm not sure why I said it.ORIGINAL: Silvanski
"French has Haut for Cold and Chaut for Hot, darn it."
Haut means High, actually... cold is "froid" pronounce "frwa" [;)]
But back to topic hehe... the latest Elmer might be able to do a good job without having to set a handicap level, cuz if I understand it that only gives him a mathematical advantage ...?
And, duh.. that I only now find out about the Y/N switch [:D] (dives into the opart.ini)

Well, I am confused...
About the experimentalAI ... put on Y, which is actually "No" thus the old AI due to a mix-up (dixit Ralph), it does a much better job of obliterating my units and making breakthroughs...
Set to N, which then should be Yes it is sluggish, pulls panzer divisions back, and as you can see doesn't penetrate deep into Russia...
See this comparison of the Axis PO's turn 1 in the Klemme/Marshall/Werner scenario Russian War which I converted and modded for private consumption...

and the sitreps say it all....
AI in No setting (New Experimental AI)
22nd June 1941
Operation Barbarossa begins!
AXIS Forces capture Liepaja. (that's all?)[X(]
AI in Yes setting (Old AI)
22nd June 1941
Operation Barbarossa begins!
AXIS Forces capture Brest-Litovsk.
Lutsk has been reduced to ruins.
AXIS Forces capture Lutsk.
AXIS Forces capture Liepaja.
LVOV has been reduced to ruins.
AXIS Forces capture LVOV.
KAUNAS has been reduced to ruins.
AXIS Forces capture KAUNAS. (A lot better aye...

RE: What Handicap do you play on?
Is that the only scenario that the 'new' AI does worse than the 'old' AI, Silvain?

RE: What Handicap do you play on?
I've noticed differences in Trotsky among others, not as dramatic though...
In that House Of Cards I've been modding, an NKVD (Polish special unit to assist rezistance units) airdrop behind German lines works with the old AI, but under the new one the unit just marches forward from its airfield behind Soviet lines...
Maybe you can try it yourself... get some small PO enabled scenario under the two settings and compare the minimap.

Too much work. I'm currenlty working on a list of improvements to StoBP that would be needed to make the scenario awesome.ORIGINAL: Silvanski

RE: What Handicap do you play on?
I'm not seeing a major difference in the Russian War scenario. Are you sure you may not have accidentally changed the PO Intelligence or something? Can you reproduce it?ORIGINAL: Silvanski

Is Trotsky better or worse? Can you send me a copy of house of cards, with inctruction on which unit and where the unit is, os I can see why that's happening.ORIGINAL: Silvanski

RE: What Handicap do you play on?
Ralph , I didn't change any setting in Russian War except the Y/N for the experimentalAIP (both 1 and 2)
I'll check again, also the other scenarios mentioned.

Ralph, I mailed you the HoC scenario with explanation about the unit in question.
I'm gonna run turn 1 of Trotsky under both settings to compare.

RE: What Handicap do you play on?
Am running Trotsky as I write... 1st with Y setting (old PO) and avanti go the Commies... 2nd with the N setting and the same behaviour as noticed in Russian War... he's pulling units away from the frontline... result: less units attacking... Vilna is still in Polish hands
Comparing the Commie end of turn 1 minimaps, you'll notice the difference in Poland... fog of war is off, so there are no hidden units.

RE: What Handicap do you play on?
Well, the good news is that I'm seeing results that look much more like the 'Old" AI settings when I run the same tests with the latest build. I must have fixed something between the last release and this one<g>. With it on, I saw the paracutist drop, and the AI advance. Thanks Silvanski, I'm afraid that you'll have to wait to see how the new AI does.
